About me

My name is Stéphane Peter, and I am currently working as a Senior Software Engineer for Codehost, Inc., in Southern California. Before that, I worked as a game programmer for Loki Software.

You can take a look at my resumé here.

I also have a few pictures of myself and others available here.

My projects

I worked on and maintained the following Loki products :

Myth II: Soulblighter Heroes of Might & Magic III SimCity 3000 Unlimited Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns (partially)

Do not e-mail me directly regarding those products ! After Loki closes its doors on January 31, 2001, there won't be any 'official' channel to have problems fixed anymore.

Some of the other projects I either maintain or have contributed to :

Makeself, a shell script used to create self-extracting archives (the *.run files you may have encountered). Setup, the Loki installation tool. Makeself is now a part of setup. Mobile Tutor, mobile educational games and tools for musicians. Java Mobile, a Facebook application for sharing Java ME midlets. Sam Lantinga's Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) has a few patches from me. I notably wrote the AAlib graphics driver so that you can play your favorite Loki games in ASCII-art :-) While working for SciTech Software, I participated to the Linux port of the MGL graphics library, and wrote the first Linux version of SciTech Display Doctor. A long time ago, I started the now defunct Linux Game SDK project. Although this project wasn't a success, it allowed me and others to make some good contacts and understand the technologies behind Linux gaming, which eventually led me to work for Loki on very similar things.

En Français ("Oh oh oh, I am so French !")

For the French speaking people out there :

Je suis l'un des rédacteurs réguliers du magazine français Planète Linux, et j'ai notamment écrit une série d'articles d'initiation à la programmation de jeux sous Linux à l'aide de la librairie SDL. Ces articles sont disponibles dans leur intégralité en ligne, ici.
