PowerClubs--What Are They?

PowerClubs International is an outgrowth of Kids in Ministry International. Since January 2006, leaders have been trained, clubs launched, and groups have spread into several nations with others waiting.  PowerClubs are local children's ministries in a wide variety of communities around the world which are started and conducted by local individuals who desire to see children evangelized and born again, filled with the Holy spirit, grounded in the word of God, operating in the gifts of the Spirit, and become active, functioning members in the body of Christ while they are still children.

Though some are a part of local churches, most are held in backyards, neutral locations, schools, slums, ghettos, and homes. While some of the leaders are experienced children's ministers, many have never worked with children before, but have caught the vision of taking children further into the things of the Spirit. In many situations PowerClubs are "planting churches of children."

PowerClubs are distinct from other children's ministries in these areas:

1. PowerClubs are conducted on a weekly basis and follow a simple but effective pattern for conducting a full children's service which runs for 1.5 to 2 hrs in length in most situations. This includes games, action and humor that moves into worship, revelation and ministry through the Holy Spirit. Our kids reach for the goals for which God created them…and have fun in the process.

2. Every meeting is designed to give the children an opportunity to encounter the presence of God in some way at some point.

3. Every lesson gives children the deeper truths of the meat of the word of God going much further than teaching them only basic Bible stories. This is done through the use of curriculums published by Kids in Ministry International.

4. Every child is taught to hear the voice of God, become prayer warriors and intercessors, pray for the sick, share their faith and operate in the gifts of the spirit. In short they are activated into the believers’ ministries as described in Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16, and Acts 2:16-17.

5. Leaders are given specific training through Kids in Ministry International before launching their own PowerClubs.

6. Individual clubs report their activities bi-monthly. In areas where there are three or more clubs, area coordinators collect quarterly attendance reports and convey the club testimonies as part of the world-wide PCI network.

7. Supportive partnership between leaders and access to ongoing leadership training is being developed.

Making a Difference, One Club at a time,
One Country at a Time

From Africa to Asia, South America, India, Nepal, Columbia, and Poland, we were on the move in 2007. Our aim is to empower and support the indigenous ministries who invite us to train them to lead PowerClubs. They are reaching the kids of their own nations. One new PowerClub leader said, "The experience was exciting to me, especially the altar call giving the children a time to listen to God's voice. They were talking like grown-ups. It was so exciting to hear them say this by themselves."

2007 began and ended in Africa. In January and February we ministered in Kenya and Uganda. In November after a four-year pursuit by Pastor Francis Opoku, KIMI-PowerClubs became a reality in Bolgatanga, Ghana.

Northern Ghana was chosen because few ministers travel there and the hunger is great. "There is no way we can say enough,” responded one new Bolgatanga PowerClub leader. “They have come from very far and they have brought us something very new. We are very happy."

Another said, "The experience was exciting to me, especially the altar call giving the children a time to listen to God's voice. They were talking like grown-ups. It was so exciting to hear them say this by themselves."

We also travelled to Asia, South America, and Europe, ministering in India, Nepal, Columbia, and Poland. Our aim is to empower and support the indigenous ministries who invite us to train. They are reaching the kids of their own nations. We also ministered in the United States.

Kids are hungry to be part of the supernatural outflow of the end times. Our role, as adults, is to position them for this destiny and empower them to be effective and fulfilled as Christians—beginning when they are yet children. No child waits until he is 18 to learn the skills he will need to earn a living in this world. Neither should he wait until adulthood to learn to flow with the voice of the Holy Spirit. God wants to have a relationship with each of us and make us a blessing from the beginning of our lives.
