A youth pastor is one of the people we trust. Now Brian Golden is in jail, charged with killing his wife and burying her body in the woods. We were in court yesterday as detectives read Golden's confession and the chilling details of the killing and cover-up.

Golden couldn't hold back the tears as police read his confession letter in court. "I feel like a monster for what I've done to everyone, especially my son," read Det. LaPrentice Mayes of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department.

Police say Golden confessed to killing his wife Dee Dee in their home on November 20. He said they were fighting. The fight got out of hand.

"One of my hands was on her face, the other was behind her head," read Det. Mayes. "As we wrestled, we lost our footing and fell. I'm not sure what happened, but her head twisted and her neck broke. She was badly injured. She had an odd look on her face like it was frozen in shock. I placed a pillow over her face to hide that look."

The preliminary autopsy report shows Dee Dee died of a suffocation and a broken neck. Det. Mayes read on, "I made another terrible mistake. I tried to hide it. I wrapped her in a quilt from the bed, grabbed some of her things. I put her in the trunk of her car and drove to the woods and I buried her. I spent the next couple of days trying to hide the evidence."

With Golden's help, police found Dee Dee's body in a four-foot grave deep in the woods on Fort Stewart property. They found her purse burned in a grill off Highway 17 in Jasper County.

"I have caused enough pain," read Det. Mayes. "Her family and friends deserve to know the truth."

Friends and family were also in court, some of them members of the Southside Assembly of God, the church where Golden served as youth pastor.

Judge Dillon sent the case to the grand jury. They should take it on in the next two months. We'll let you know what happens next.
