Alternative fuels now!

You guys criticize Democrats because they don't want to let big oil companies drill in wilderness areas. Surely you don't believe that the U.S. taxpayer would get cheaper gas out of it, do you?

Big Oil will sell the oil to whatever country will give them the most for it, and they will enhance their pocketbooks at our expense. An example of this was the Alaskan oil pipeline.

The Alaskan oil pipeline was OK'd because the U.S. was too dependent on foreign oil. However, that oil has been sold to Japan because they will pay more for it, and the people of Alaska get a tax rebate for it – but WE all paid for that pipeline, and WE are getting nothing out of it. Screw the big oil companies. They aren't our allies; they work for profit.

What we really need is alternative fuels to lessen our dependence to any one source of energy.

Obama and our troops

Obama scraps visit to wounded troops ... Here's a multiple choice quiz listing possible reasons Obama scrapped plans to visit wounded troops in Germany:

1. He would be treated like Commander in Cheap;
2. He did not want to be photographed with "real" American heroes;
3. The troops are reluctant to prostrate themselves and worship him;
4. He might be upstaged by someone else;
5. He would be a community organizer among men.

Hit the tracks, Nance

As long as Nancy Pelosi refuses to let the U.S. House vote on any measures that would ease the national energy situation, she should be forced to take the train back to California. No flights to California by this woman whose jet jaunts are way too expensive to justify.

Truth in history

[To Joseph Farah:] I have been an admirer of your writing and your leadership in the New Media Revolution for years, but I just have to say that your column "The greatest sin" about Planned Parenthood was absolutely sobering and one of the most impacting articles I have ever read. Your well-researched column should be in every history book in America.

Just 800 years off …

As is typical of most left-wing lunk heads, Mark Thomas, in his letter to the editor (July 25) can't get his facts straight. He accuses WND's contributors of being an "American Taliban" sporting "a collection of disturbing 15th century values." Unfortunately, the Taliban he compares WND to is representative of seventh century values – not 15th! However, I do agree with him regarding the era: The Renaissance period of the 15th century was one of many high watermarks of Western Civilization. WND, therefore, is apparently in very good company.

No more votes for ignoramuses

In this 2008 election for president, we are told we have a choice between McCain and Obama, Republican or Democrat. My friends, that is not a choice. Given that we should try and keep Obama out, I agree, but how much better is John McCain? Really, the only reason I would consider voting for him is the possibility that he would nominate better candidates for the Supreme Court.

To paraphrase Alan Stang, "Imagine that you are sitting under a big bug. At ground level, each leg looks separate until you look up and see they are connected to the same bug." So it is with McCain and Obama. Both of them are surrounded with advisers who are members of the Council on Foreign Relations (and each are members too), and here and there some Trilateral Commission guys. Both of these candidates are willing to play ball with those behind the scenes who have been working toward a world socialist government.

In 1974, the "Club of Rome" determined it would be best to divide the world into 10 political and economic regions. Today, we have the European Union; we hear of the African Union, the South American Union and the hardly secret "North American Union." Bush/Clinton/Bush have taken us down this road rapidly.

Someone said that the world government pukes "are sprinting naked toward the finish line." In other words, they figure that they have a lock on things; they don't need to hide what is going on anymore. Their man will be in the White House, Republican or Democrat. This next treasonous administration may well finish us off as a free and independent nation.

I've often wondered why Congress wasn't doing anything about this situation. Well, with few exceptions, they seem to be a useless lot, more interested in self-enrichment and personal power to bother with insignificant issues like national sovereignty. Some are worse than useless – they are "useful idiots."

I am a state delegate for one of the exceptions, Ron Paul. I supported Dr. Paul in this campaign, but he isn't running anymore. The only other real choice is the Constitution Party. Chuck Baldwin will not play ball with the world socialists, and he will do everything possible from the executive office to return us to a constitutional republic. I spent a day with the Constitution Party vice presidential candidate Darrell Castle. I asked him: "If there was one thing that you could say to people, what would it be?" He told me that if we keep electing the same kind of people, nothing will change. It is true.

I've come to the conclusion that I am not responsible for what Obama or McCain does. They will stand before God and give account for what they have done in this life, whatever it is. I am responsible for what I do, as I will give account as well. I am going to vote for who I believe is the best, Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party. No more voting for an ignoramus just to keep a clueless clown out of office.

We Americans have been bamboozled for too long. Republicans and Democrats are not a choice anymore. Let's do something different this time!

"Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness."

– Psalm 37:1-3.

With me always: My gun and my God

Carl is another Christian defeatist [E-mail to the Editor, July 24].

I have read the Bible since my youth, and I am now 60 years old. My father was an ordained Pentecostal minister. I was taught that human life is precious and that all life is a gift from God not to be taken without just cause. However, nowhere in the Bible do I find a command to allow your own life or the lives of your family to be taken by evil. God repeatedly tells us that the blood of the wicked is on their own heads. I am a 100-percent supporter of the right of self-defense. The only people that surrender their right to life are the wicked that prey upon the innocent.

I have spent 27 years as a military SWAT officer, a few years as a civilian police officer and 15 years as an armed security officer. I am a CCW holder and, like American Express, I never leave home without it.

I have no intent or desire to harm anyone; rather, I will go out of my way to help my fellow man. But I also will not let human predators harm myself or those placed in my protection as long as God gives me the strength and ability to resist this evil. I will meet force with force and trust in God's protection while I defend the innocent. God gives us the strength, wisdom and ability, but if you refuse to choose to use those things for good you are lost.

Do not expect God to protect you in your foolishness if you do not protect yourself. Read your Bible again, Carl. God is not a pacifist.

Sniveling Dems

What do people expect from the Democrats? This is what they do ["Why Democrats don't want to lower gas prices"]. They are elitists who exploit Americans with slogans like "tax cuts for the rich" and "war for oil." They are sneaky and sniveling, rarely ever taking credit for their liberal tendencies or communist sympathies. They attack the family and call it diversity. They tear apart our heritage and call it progressive. Democrats are the ultimate liars who will twist and confuse an entire populace if it helps them gain or retain power.

And today, this very moment, Democrats are again scheming to overlord the American people by spinning a vicious lie about domestic oil drilling – calling it shameful and seedy.

I don't need them in places of leadership in this nation. I believe I don't need them at all.

Through with TV

Columnist Erik Rush's piece titled "Kill your television" is simple, profound truth, mostly unknown to our citizenry, even among those of us that consider ourselves God-fearing conservatives. Mr. Rush exhibited the courage to actually say what is forbidden to be said: that there are "groups of individuals whose goal is to subvert all that is considered positive, constructive and creative in American society."

As for my household, we are unsubscribing from Direct TV, saving $55 a month, and will instead move our existing broadband connection to the living room with a 32" flat-screen monitor. We've been kicking around this idea for a while, but thanks to this well written essay, today it will be done. There is nothing on television that will be missed. Good riddance, and our thanks to WND and Erik Rush.

Watch out, though, as your federal and world governments next try to restrict Internet content.

Government: Dems' solution to everything

Joseph, thank you or your leadership on the issue of domestic oil supply.

Here is another thought on why Democrats oppose it. Liberals are at heart socialists. Their ideal system of governance is far closer to communism than capitalism. That political ideology would be well served if we took several giant steps in the direction of the Stone Age. Technology makes their constituency more independent, and that is counterproductive for Democrats, who believe that government is the solution, not the problem.

Then, when a population center is thrust into the basic survival model, such as New Orleans after Katrina, they thoroughly demonstrate their incapacity to deal with the critical issues at hand.

So, I see the Democrats secretly gleeful over skyrocketing oil prices because they are '60s hippies at heart and want to live in a 300 million person pantheistic commune, a goal which is facilitated with diminishing oil consumption. They also are globalists who are not in the slightest bit bothered by America begging hat-in-hand on the doorstep of its enemies for oil. They relish seeing America humbled because their identity is global, and American strength and sovereignty is an obstacle to that goal.

Prager's delusion

Dennis Prager's ravings about Iran make me wonder if the man has gone off his medication. Only in the fevered imagination of an AIPAC lobbyist or Likud member is it possible to conjure up a scenario where Iran attacks Israel militarily.

Mr. Prager asks, "Can Iran do it?" The man believes it to be a foregone conclusion and then absurdly claims that the burden of proof rests with his opponents. In Prager's world, it's bomb first, ask questions later!

So, we have to prove the man wrong, eh? Has he looked at a map lately? Is Iran's army going to march through Iraq, Jordan and the West Bank in a modern-day Blitzkrieg? Not bloody likely. Will they unleash their vaunted air force of decrepit 35-year-old jets? Not a chance. Will Iran launch a flotilla of motorized rafts around the Arabian Peninsula and through the Suez Canal? Uh, I don't think so.

It gets worse. Prager states, "It is also a country rapidly acquiring the ability to use nuclear weapons to achieve this goal – through direct attack, handing nuclear weapons to terrorists or both." Evidence? We don't need no stinkin' evidence!

Think about it: Any verifiable proof of an Iranian nuke program would be splashed across the front pages. Is there any doubt that the Cheney gang is itching for something resembling a pretext for more "shock and awe"? We haven't seen this alleged evidence because it doesn't exist, and hoping for some to appear magically is not enough to start a regional war and bring the world economy to a halt.

And the notion that Iran would go to the trouble and expense of building a nuke only to give it to terrorists is more than a little stupid. The mullahs may have a fair bit of hatred for the Jews, but they clearly aren't suicidal. They know Israel has nearly 200 nukes and the ability to deliver them. Unlike the make-believe world Dennis Prager inhabits, the Iranian leaders, no matter how detestable we may find them, are not going risk nuclear annihilation.

Please, Dennis, check with your doctor. The dosage isn't working.

Trust God, not guns

Why does WND have a mission to undermine obedience to our Lord and the wonderworking power and deliverance from God? In the latest article on how Charl van Wyk shot back, it appears storyteller Stot even lied about his possession of a gun. Justifying lying on top of returning evil for evil may make these men "heroes" in their own and WND's eyes, but not in God's eyes. The Lord clearly wants us to follow in His steps, put on the attitude of humility, which He had, and most importantly, to obey His commands.

Stot and van Wyk trusted in their own power and not in God's. The actions of these men should be condemned by the Christian community. The argument that they saved lives is ludicrous as we do not know how God would have handled the situation due to their lack of trust in Him.

A cat's tale: Conservatism vs. liberalism

A stray cat had kittens in our yard. My wife attempted to barricade the kittens in a contained area to protect them from predators. Short of caging them, this proved impossible. The rambunctious kittens escaped my wife's protection to explore, wrestle and play. With every fall, their climbing skills improved. Mama cat taught "gecko catching 101." Soon the kittens were supplementing their breast milk with gecko snacks. Had my wife been successful in her intrusive attempts to protect them, the kittens' growth would have been stunted, leaving them ill equipped to survive.

The kittens scenario illustrates the superiority and compassion of a conservative approach to life over liberal. Liberal politicians always promote lowering standards and intrusive protection programs, which ultimately enslave people to government dependency.

For example, despite documented historical proof that speaking one national language is vital to economic success, liberals demand that America become more bilingual. They accuse anyone suggesting that immigrants learn English as being racist.

Conservatives joyfully lend a helping hand when needed. They reject the trap and demoralization of cradle-to-grave dependency.

My 80-year-old black dad shined shoes as a child. On a good night, he earned as much as $5. Dad always gave his aunt, who raised him, a portion for board. He remembers purchasing an undershirt. Dad said he proudly bragged to his buddies, "I'm buying my own clothes now!" Dad was experiencing the joy and self-esteem that comes from a conservative approach to life vs. a liberal approach of receiving a welfare check.

Just as the kittens escaped my wife's crippling liberal protection, I challenge minorities to reject crippling government dependency programs.

Bob Barr's surge

Keep your eyes on Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr. He may be peaking at the right time to be invited to the big debates with Obama and McCain. In a recent Zogby poll, he tallied 6 percent nationally and 8-10 percent in several key states, unheard of for this early in the game. If he can reach 10 percent nationally, he will be invited to one or more of the well-publicized presidential debates. With Ross Perot's former campaign manager heading the team, Barr may be poised to send shock waves through the political establishment. What a revolutionary concept: choice in American politics. Farah, give this man a shot. Millions of Americans are already prepared to vote for him and his constitutional platform, and the movement is rapidly growing.

For the republic – not a piece of cloth

I find the fuss surrounding Obama's campaign and whether or not it chooses to utilize the American flag as a symbol rather ridiculous.

After 9/11, many of my neighbors and citizens of the town I resided in at the time had multiple flags hanging from anything and everything. I did not place a flag or a ribbon on our property or vehicle (my husband served in the military at the time and I had served previously). Why? My heart has always been with our Constitution and my duty as a citizen to monitor government and communicate with my elected officials. I have done so since I was a sophomore in high school (1986).

My neighbors were angry with me and spewed vindictive, profane words in the presence of my children. One day I decided to speak with them. I asked them if they could recite the introduction to our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Blank stares were the answer. I asked them if they could name their elected officials. "What does that have to do with anything?!" I asked them if they had ever reviewed or thoroughly read pending legislation. Nope. I asked them if they had ever personally communicated with an elected official regarding a matter of importance to them. "You're full of yourself!"

I explained to them that the flag is merely a piece of cloth if citizens do not actively participate in the functions of our representative republic (they didn't know that our government was founded as such). We all are to be watchmen that guard the rights and liberties of our fellow citizens and to hold elected officials to the mandates of the Constitution.

The American flag is a symbol of our struggle for liberty. If citizens make no effort whatsoever to continue to do so by being dutiful to the principles on which our nation was founded, the flag is a worthless piece of cloth. By the way, I noticed an awful lot of flags in the garbage when the 9/11 flag-waving fad died out.

Jennifer

It's about the 'O'

Talk about a man with an overblown ego! The audacity of Obama replacing the American flag on the tail of his plane with a red , white and blue "Obama logo" is beyond belief! I knew the man didn't honor the American flag, but he's really stooped to a new low on this one. How many more ways will he show his contempt for America?

Barb

He knows

I keep reading the letters about Obama being unaware of Muslim intentions, or not knowing what he's up against with Islam. I think you're all wrong. I think he knows exactly what he's up against. Or maybe I should say FOR. I believe Mr. Obama is very aware of Islam's designs, both for our country and for the world. A smiling fool he is not.

Christian compromisers

Time after time, Janet Folger has set aside her principles and urged a vote for the lesser of two evils.

She claims to have read the Bible but seems to have forgotten what the Bible has to say about faith and the avoidance of evil. According to Janet, compromise with the devil is OK as long as the devil claims to support her precious marriage legislation.

Thank God Janet Folger didn't write the Bible. If she had, David would have voted for Goliath rather than kill him. Elijah would have hit the campaign trail on behalf of Ahab and Jezebel, and Moses would have been Ramses' running mate.

I also thank God that Janet and all of the rest of the gutless, mindless Christian compromisers we read in WorldNetDaily these days weren't around to influence George Washington, Thomas Jefferson or James Madison back in their day.

Fools learn nothing from history. When was the last time in recent history any presidential candidate from either of the two major parties actually stood firm on any godly platform? How many past so-called conservative presidents from either major party refused to sacrifice their conservative campaign rhetoric and upheld the Constitution and rule of law? I can't think of one, can you? What were all these Christian pundits saying back then? Without fail, every one of them were trumpeting the faux conservatism of the lesser, Republican evil so we wouldn't get hit with the greater, Democrat evil. Ask yourself if we are any better off today by having compromised our principles back then than if we would have stood our ground.

Principled Christian voters must trust first in God, then stand firm against evil. Juan McCainez is no different than Hussein Obama. Both are evil globalist tools. Folger urges us to choose between the gas chamber or lethal injection. I choose neither.

Mine is not a protest vote, Janet, it is a principled one.

Ken De Vries

Bribe away!

One of WorldNetDaily's most recent polls asked, "Do you expect Congress to take beneficial action on energy before it adjourns?" and one of the choices was, "Yes, but only if there's some illicit cash funneled to lawmakers."

That's actually a terrific idea. If it takes "illicit" cash for Congress to take beneficial action and restore the Constitution, I say let the bribes flow freely.

Obama's charade

Barack Obama's desire to create a "civilian national security force" should come as no surprise – all dictators of tyrannical governments, past and present, had theirs. They're necessary to quell uprisings against the government's evil policies.

Of course, we would have to know what Obama's policies were before we could actually call them evil, now wouldn't we. And given the fact that he's yet to explain any of them, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

That's if he ever does explain them – or can!

I'm beginning to believe he doesn't have any, and his entire campaign of hope and change is nothing more than one big happy-go-lucky charade.

Well, that might work for a kid running for president of his senior class in college, but as for the presidency of the United States, it won't fly!

Look at him; he's overseas meeting with foreign dignitaries acting like he's a band member of the Rolling Stones and the media (paparazzi) are treating him like it. They cover the man like he was a saint sent from God and keep comparing him to John F. Kennedy. What a joke!

James Jordan

Obama to close border!

I think there's a perfectly good-intentioned interpretation of the Obama quote:

"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

I think he's telling us that after a long overdue delay, he finally intends to close the borders (or not!)

Dean Unruh

Fear your government

[To Joseph Farah:] Yep, Obama is evil to the core, but, you know, I remember when you were badmouthing Ron Paul because of his stance on the war. Every one of the candidates you "endorsed" was a loser, and now we get McCain, who cannot put two words together. Would it be so bad now to see Dr. Paul in the Republican driver's seat? It might not have made any difference, but you do reach a lot of folks every day.

One thing you can do a lot of talking about is that Obama will definitely keep your "war of terror" going. At least that is safe! You can rejoice in the fact you have done your part to keep that farce going. Your beloved Israel will soon attack Iran, which has done nothing to us or to them as a country. You and Rush Limbag can celebrate together over $400 a barrel oil and dead "terrorists."

The fear we should have in this country is the fear of our own government. Bush has stepped up plans for a police state, and Obama will continue them. Americans will soon learn what fear of government really means.

Excuse me; I need to go get sick.

Mike

McCapitulation

I see where Stephanie refuses to boycott McDonald's [E-mail to the Editor, July 21]. Apparently, surrender fits her budget. Since she has already capitulated, she thinks the rest of us should, too. Perhaps Stephanie needs to go ahead and order her burka and prepare for dhimmitude. As for the homosexuals, they won't last once the Muslims gain the upper hand. Me, I prefer to go down fighting.

He doesn't have a clue

Re: "Obama: 9-11 happened because al-Qaida lacks 'empathy'"

A clue, the guy just doesn't have a clue.

Obama is a fool

A fundamental cause of defeat in war is not understanding who the enemy is or its motives. I believe Aaron Klein is one of the few journalists who do understand and expose the true motives of Islam.

It is very clear that Barack Hussein Obama doesn't – and that is extremely dangerous for America.

R. Robin

McDonald's boycott

It's my opinion that boycotts are old fashioned and worthless. I am not boycotting McDonald's. I make 7 bucks an hour, and I can get a full meal there for $3.

The whole world is sodomite and Muslim. There isn't a thing you can do about it.

Obama's national security force

I first heard about this story yesterday morning courtesy of "The War Room" with Jim Quinn and Rose Tennant. This morning, I looked up your column on the subject.

Chilling doesn't even begin to describe it. As I listened to Quinn read snippets of your article, one word popped immediately into my mind: Gestapo!

Islam's at war with us!

I love your website and your polls. However, I think you completely missed the boat regarding the possible responses to "Never miss Ramadan again: Should the State Department be producing calendars celebrating mosques in America?"

I think you should have had the response, "H-ll, no, Islam and the mosques that house this "religion" are at war against us! What an insult to all the Americans and other people who have given their lives against this evil!"

Your possible answers demonstrated political correctness! When we have a State Department that behaves like this when we are in the middle of a war and with a "conservative" president in office, no wonder our conservative movement has lost its way."

Obama's English skills

Sen. Barack Obama seems to spend much of his time clarifying what he really meant in his previous speeches. He seems to forget that those gun-totin', Bible-readin' Americans who embarrass him so much speak English quite well, thank you, and fully understand precisely what he says when he speaks.

For example, at AIPAC he said that Jerusalem should remain undivided as Israel's capital. That quickly triggered off a flurry of explanations of what he really meant to say. Most recently, he confided that he only meant to say that barbed wire should not be lying in the streets of Jerusalem, thus dividing the city. He claims he used poor phrasing and syntax. Good grief!

It appears that the monolingual Mr. Obama doesn't even speak English correctly. Now that's embarrassing!

Joanie & Ely Silk

4 years of the race card?

I knew it! From Day 1 when Obama announced he was running for the presidency, I thought this presidential campaign is going to be all about racism, and was I right! For months, that's all we've heard, and the media has played a big part in making it so.

Pat Buchanan is right when he says the Obamas are the untouchables. Anything said against them is perceived as "it's because they're black" – and if you think it's bad now, wait until he's in the Oval Office. Any time anyone disagrees with his policies, the race card will be played – over and over again. I'm tired of hearing about it. It's so divisive for our country, we may see rioting in the streets before it's all over, just like the '60s.

This was inevitable with a black running for president; we should have seen it coming. We should be able to disagree without being called racists.

Barb

Liberty's tide is unstoppable

Maybe I have it wrong, but if my memory is correct, these United States made a declaration of independence back in 1776. However, they way politicians from both major parties act, you'd think our great nation was founded upon a declaration of dependence.

Our forefathers must be spinning in their graves at our addiction to government interference, usurpation of individual and state rights and a repressive system of taxation.

Our nation was founded on liberty from government, limited taxation and a guarantee of safety from dangers within and without our borders. Today, our government tramples on our constitutional rights and steals our hard-earned money. All the while, our enemies are massing along our shores and lying in wait among us.

Let this serve as a warning to politicians: Restore our freedoms or be swept aside by the tide of liberty. The stream of human events leads to the shining city upon the hill. Though it winds perilously at times, its flow will not be stopped.

Serafin Quintanar Jr.

How 'bout a Christian calendar?

I wanted to thank you for posting the article on WND concerning what our own State Department is doing by promoting mosques in America through calendar sales.

I think it's outrageous that they've done this! However, it doesn't shock me that they've done it, seeing how I know that Muslims have infiltrated many of our government offices to promote their religious beliefs. Nevertheless, heads in the State Department should roll over this! And to top it all off, it's to promote one of the Muslims' religions holidays, Ramadan? Sheesssh!

I'd like to see the State Department produce a calendar for the Christian holiday Easter! But I won't hold my breath on that one happening any time soon.

Keep up the great work that you do!

Mike
