Statement:
"I'm gay," he whispered to me as voices in class talked over us about their weekend plans and class assignments. After class, Mike and I were able to talk, and I was able to hear his story and the way he has repressed, fought against, and been scorned because of his sexual orientation; and it was all done in the name of God. My heart was broken and my passion kindled. So I decided to go on Equality Ride, in order to be a part of a greater cause fighting against religion-based oppression. I myself am a Christian and remember a time when I was the one doing the oppressing. It was through meeting and talking with others that I realized my mistake. It is through personal conversations and connections that hearts and minds will be changed and, subsequently, religious oppression will end. I hope to be a part of that change through my involvement in Equality Ride.

I am doing what I can Brandy. I know you and Matt and all the other Equality Ride riders need this and will do a great job with the funds you raise. I wish I could give more, but I am a poor college student! :)

I went to Dayton Christian high school. It is a conservative school with strong ties to Cedarville University. I want to support this effort to dialogue and bring a different message to these schools. Maybe one day a person will not have to be closeted to attend these schools.

I'm a Cedarville graduate of 1988 and a gay women in a 9 yr committed same-sex union. I loved my time at Cedarville but hated the homophobia. After I came out, I lost all my Cedarville friends. I pray you had an effective witness there. Thanks for your Godly work and compassionate and brave heart.
