Single Serve Coffee Visits Van Houtte In Montreal

If you didn't know, Van Houtte not only makes K Cup coffees for the Keurig single serve coffee maker, but they also have many cafe locations you can visit. Since we're US based, we've never had the pleasure of visiting one of Van Houtte's coffee cafes in Canada, and this past week that all changed. We were in Montreal on a trip of eating, coffee drinking, and just walking around the beautiful city of Montreal, and found Van Houtte cafes throughout the city. The cafes are both spacious, well designed, and they feature some really good coffee and pastries.

We settled back for a Cafe Romano, and our single serve coffee accomplice had a very rich and interesting "Chaud" Chai Tea Latte. Great stuff. If you're in Montreal, or around other cities in Canada that have a Van Houtte Coffee Cafe, we think you'll enjoy a visit or two.

Top 10 Best Selling Single Serve Coffee Makers - October 2008

October is a game changer on the Top 10 Best Selling Single Serve Coffee makers list. We're still not seeing some of the newer models like the Bosch Tassimo Suprema Hot Beverage System make the top 10 yet, but we are seeing the older still in the top 10 due to a price cut. The Keurig B30 also makes the list for the first time this month, and the big news this month is the Keurig B60 has dethroned the Aeroporess as the top selling single serve coffee maker. Also not on the list for the first time in months is the Braun TA1200 Tassimo - [SSC Review].

We've been using the US version of the Krups Nescafe Dolce Gusto over the past few weeks, and we have to say we're really impressed. Impressed enough to share just about every step we've had with this single serve coffee maker. One thing to note is Nescafe is owned by Nestle, which in turns is part of or shares in some business with Nespresso. Baronet Targets Coffee Pods for Senseo

Baronet Coffee will reveal coffee pods targeted at the Senseo single serve coffee maker in the near future. These coffee pods will come packed in a "foil" bag, much like the current Senseo branded coffee pods. The coffee pods will be a bit larger - in the 7.5 gram to 8 gram range, but you'll be able to use two coffee pods in the double Senseo holder, and one in the Senseo single pod holder.

Review: Nespresso Essenza Touch Single Serve Coffee and Espresso Maker

We've been using the Nespresso Essenza Touch in black and grey for over two weeks now, and find the texture and finish of this Nespresso to be very special. The Nespresso Essenza Touch is basically a Nespresso C100T (you can read our review of the C100T here), but it has a super smooth coating. This may be the first single serve coffee maker we've every used, where sliding your hand over it seems the thing to do each morning we make a cup of single serve coffee.

So, the big difference really is the coating. The Nespresso Touch features are the same as the C100T (which is an updated C90 - you can read our review of the C90 here).

It's also good to note you can only use Nespresso coffee capsules with the Nespresso C100T Essenza. This is by design, and you'll also need to sign up for the Nespresso club to do you ordering or stop by a Nespresso boutique to get some new ones.

Clover Single Serve Coffee Maker Now at Starbucks

The mystical Clover single serve coffee machine.

We're very excited to announce Clover has landed at Starbucks. Our local Starbucks on Mass. Ave in Cambridge near Harvard Square has a Clover and tasting menu now, and we've recently had an amazing cup of single serve coffee from their Clover. If you're not familiar with the Clover (read our earlier review here) it's really the ultimate cafe single serve coffee machine, allowing for small batches and a tasting menu of coffees because each cup of coffee matched with a unique coffee can be made one cup at a time.

We sampled the Burundi. A cup of coffee from the Clover is about
2x the price of a regular cup of Starbucks coffee.

Clover is basically a reverse-french press that allows for the input of the coffee you've chosen, volume of water, and the temperature and time of brew for the cup of single serve coffee. We've never had a bad cup of coffee from a Clover, and think if you're local Starbucks has one you'll need to treat yourself to a cup or two.

Jinogalpa - Nespresso Special Club 2008 Espresso

SingleServeEspresso.com has news of the new Special Edition from Nespresso called Jinogalpa. Jinogalpa comes from Nicaragua's best arabica coffee and is split roasted to reach different roast colors then blended after roasting. Nespresso describes it as having "full body, and a smooth crema that reveals soft tones of sandalwood as well as subtle and refreshing herbal accents."
