Sharansky’s New Book Defending Identity Quickly Wins Praise
Natan Sharansky’s new book Defending Identity has received praise in a number of early reviews. The book argues that identity is freedom’s greatest ally in the struggle against tyranny. Ira Stoll writes in the NY Sun that “the most compelling proof in Mr. Sharansky's account is his own life story.†A Jerusalem Post review states: “Defending Identity cuts to the heart of the malaise that causes many in Europe and America to refuse to understand the threat to their freedoms that post-identity thinking represents.â€

Noted philosopher Michael Walzer of Princeton University and Hebrew University Professor Moshe Halbertal will keynote the third international conference on Political Hebraism. Titled “Political Hebraism: Jewish Sources in the History of Political Thought,†it will be held September 7–9, 2008 at Princeton.
Click here for further information: A private meeting was held in June in Washington between Adelson Institute Chairman Sharansky and US President Bush, with the Washington Post reporting on a “friendly and intriguing relationship.†The President and senior advisors received a copy of Sharansky’s newest title, Defending Identity.
