[image] [image] Drew Larman has agreed to a one-year contract with the Panthers.
He appeared in just six games for Florida, earning one assist last campaign. "We are pleased to have signed Drew for another season and look forward to his continued growth in our organization," general manager Jacques Martin said. "He has had the opportunity to play with our club and understands the commitment and work ethic needed to compete in the NHL."

[image] [image] Flyers' GM Paul Holmgren does not believe that Philadelphia can sign prized unrestricted free agent Mats Sundin.
The Flyers, Rangers, Maple Leafs, Canucks, and Canadiens have all been linked to Sundin lately. However, Philadelphia is currently $1 million over the salary cap and Holmgren has made it clear he will not part with any of his core players to ink the 37-year-old center. That will not stop him from gaging Sundin's interest though. "Everyone is kind of waiting," he said. "He's a good player, and it certainly doesn't hurt to look."

[image] [image] Wild general manager Doug Risebrough is confident that the team will be able to re-sign star forward Marian Gaborik.
Gaborik has one year remaining on his current deal, after which he will become an unrestricted free agent. However, as of now Risebrough is not entertaining any trade talks for Gaborik. The two talked in Slovakia recently about the team's short and long-term goals and where Gaborik fits into their plans. The Wild GM also informed him that he would play this season with Mikko Koivu as his center and James Sheppard would likely occupy the second unit.

[image]  Jason Strudwick-D-Oilers Aug. 20 - 7:39 am et
[image] [image]
[image] [image] Jason Strudwick is happy to be a member of the Oilers.
Every off-season he works out in his home city of Edmonton, but for the first time he does not have to pack up his belongings and leave for his NHL team. "We can actually settle in-to our home here," said Strudwick. "Getting a chance to play at Rexall Place is going to be pretty exciting. I'm not really nervous about it, I'm actually quite excited." The hulking blueliner appeared in 52 games with the New York Rangers last year, accounting for two points and 40 penalty minutes. He was signed by the Oilers this summer, but is at best a depth defender who will see very little action. He is currently projected as being the team's seventh or eighth defenseman, so he should not be on your fantasy radar.

[image] [image] Despite being offered a professional contract by the Hurricanes, Zac Dalpe has decided to play at Ohio State this season.
Canes' GM Jim Rutherford said, "I guess he can revisit it next year. We'll see how he plays next year, and we'll revisit it." Dalpe was the 45th overall pick in 2008 draft and recently attended the team's prospect camp where he impressed management with his energy.

[image] [image] Stefan Legein has reportedly decided to quit playing hockey.
The 19-year-old prospect told the Blue Jackets through his agent that he will not be attending the team's training camp and will instead hang up his skates before his professional career even got off the ground. "Until September 20th (when training camp opens), he hasn't quit anything," Legein's father said, denying the report. He was the Jackets' second round pick, 37th overall, in the 2007 Draft.

[image] [image]
[image] [image] Marian Gaborik, and his agent Ron Salcer, were impressed with the Wild organization's initiative to travel to Slovakia to talk with their star winger.
"I can tell you, after talking to Marian, it made him feel really good the way they shared everything with him about the team and the future," said Salcer. "I thought it was a smart move on their behalf. It was a very beneficial thing they did." The Wild are believed to be offering Gaborik in the $8.5 million per season range to remain with the club beyond this season. Stay tuned.
