Marshall
Brandon Marshall met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell at Goodell's office in New York for 2 1/2 hours last Friday, according to the Denver Post.
Marshall was accompanied by his player rep and former Bronco Rod Smith, who is apparently now serving as Marshall's mentor. Goodell is expected to announce whether he'll suspend Marshall next week. We suspect Marshall is facing a one- or two-game ban, with his September 24 DUI case pending. Denver plays three regular season games before then. A conviction could put the suspension into immediate effect, or lengthen it in a worst case scenario. Jul. 24 - 3:13 am et

Chambers
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Chris Chambers (ankle sprain) "appears likely to sit against the Patriots" in Week 6.
Chambers has been a scoring machine in the early going; he's tied with Anquan Boldin and Terrell Owens for the most touchdowns by a wide receiver through five games. Craig "Buster" Davis, whose development has been slow since being a first-round pick in 2007, will likely start in Chambers' place. Also, Antonio Gates and Vincent Jackson could see more red-zone targets. Oct. 7 - 1:09 am et

Bush
Reggie Bush rushed 12 times for 29 yards and caught seven passes for 64 yards, but the Saints fell to the Vikings 30-27 on Monday night.
Bush also returned two punts for touchdowns and a third for a 29-yard gain, but penalties and turnovers cost the Saints the game. Bush wasn't able to get out of the backfield in regular handoff situations, often times trying to get to the edge before being yanked down. That's typical of Reggie, and so too are his amount of receptions. He's a PPR goldmine. Oct. 7 - 12:36 am et

Scheffler
There are "indications" that Tony Scheffler is being evaluated for a sports hernia, according to the Rocky Mountain News.
A sports hernia could cost Scheffler a significant portion of the rest of the season, particularly if it required surgery. For now though, the Broncos are only calling his injury a groin strain. He is expected to miss Week 6. Oct. 6 - 11:52 pm et

[image] [image] Justin Fargas (groin) will likely rejoin the Raiders' starting lineup in Week 6, according to ESPN's John Clayton.
Darren McFadden got hurt and didn't do enough to seize the job in Fargas' absence. If Fargas was dropped in 12-team fantasy leagues, he needs to be picked back up. Oakland plays the Sedrick Ellis-less Saints in Week 6. Oct. 6 - 11:38 pm et

Westbrook
Brian Westbrook (fractured ribs) said on his radio show that he will likely be a game-time decision in Week 6 against San Francisco.
Westbrook also wouldn't commit to playing if it risked hurting the team. "Do I want to be out there at 45 percent and not willing to take a hit? No," he said. "I would rather have Correll Buckhalter...take over and carry this team. I wouldn't want to set the team back like that." The Eagles have a bye in Week 7, so it might be best for all parties if Westbrook gave it a rest this week. Oct. 6 - 10:53 pm et

Hasselbeck
Monday's MRI revealed no structural damage to Matt Hasselbeck's hyperextended knee. He is expected to practice this week.
Seattle's offense dodged a bullet. Coach Mike Holmgren says Hasselbeck's knee was "tweaked," but he should be ready to face Green Bay's struggling defense. Barring in-practice setbacks, Hasselbeck can be used as a borderline QB1 this week. Oct. 6 - 6:42 pm et

[image] [image] Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren is calling Deion Branch's Week 5 injury a "bruised heel." Branch's status for Week 6 is uncertain.
Branch's status will come down to pain tolerance, indicating that if he is active against Green Bay, he wouldn't be at 100%. Since Branch's game is so reliant on quickness and cutting, it seems unlikely that he'll play. Slot receiver Bobby Engram and Keary Colbert are candidates to start in his place. Oct. 6 - 6:36 pm et

[image] [image] Ravens NT Kelly Gregg will undergo microfracture surgery on his left knee. He will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
This would be considered a huge loss if Baltimore's defense wasn't already playing at such a high level without Gregg, who hasn't played this year. Justin Bannan has been terrific in Gregg's place. However, the Ravens can not afford any more defensive linemen injuries. They're starved for depth. Oct. 6 - 6:14 pm et

Croyle
Brodie Croyle (shoulder) confirmed Monday that he will return as the Chiefs' starting QB after the team's Week 6 bye.
His previously separated throwing shoulder has been cleared for contact. Albert Haynesworth, Kyle Vanden Bosch, Jevon Kearse, and Tony Brown await in Week 7. Croyle had better hope LT Branden Albert (elbow) is ready. Oct. 6 - 5:17 pm et
