Ellis
The Warriors signed free agent guard Monta Ellis on Thursday.
The deal is reportedly for six years and $66 million according to an NBA insider. He's now the highest paid Warrior and is expected to start at point guard. However, there's a chance that Marcus Williams could end up with the job, moving Ellis to his natural position of shooting guard. Jul. 24 - 9:26 pm et

Nelson
Magic point guard Jameer Nelson did not practice on Monday because of a nagging right foot injury similar to the one that caused him to miss five games last season.
Nelson could return to practice on Tuesday and is expected to play Thursday against the Hornets. Through three preseason game, Nelson is shooting 6-of-17 and has just 10 assists. Stan Van Gundy would like Nelson to be more aggressive, but first he has to prove he can stay healthy. Oct. 13 - 4:00 pm et

[image] [image] According to the NY Daily News, Sebastian Telfair will face a season-opening suspension for an incident that occurred over a year ago, when he was arrested for possession of a loaded handgun, speeding and driving without a license.
The report, citing unnamed sources, came as a shock to Wolves coach Randy Wittman. "Why would they be doing it now?" Wittman asked. "Why didn’t they do it last year? I have no idea." The answer might be that Telfair wasn't actually sentenced until last month (he received three years probation). Randy Foye could pick up some extra playing time, but this shouldn't have a big fantasy impact. Oct. 13 - 2:30 pm et

[image] [image] Timberwolves guard Rashad McCants still has fluid on the elbow he hyperextended last Friday. He is questionable for Tuesday's game at Chicago.
McCants should be ready for opening day, but the Wolves have extensive injuries to their frontcourt. Jason Collins (elbow surgery), David Harrison (calf), Calvin Booth (back spasms) and Brian Cardinal (calf) are all sidelined by injuries. Power forward Craig Smith missed the past two games because of swelling in his surgically repaired knee, but has resumed practicing and should play on Tuesday. Oct. 13 - 10:19 am et

[image] [image] The Pacers traded for veteran swingman Eddie Jones last week, but there is a strong possibility that Jones will retire rather than report to Indiana.
"We would like him in our camp, and we would like him on our team, unless he decides he doesn't want to play," said coach Jim O'Brien. Jones only wanted to be traded to a championship contender, which the Pacers surely aren't. The Mavericks have already offered him a position as a coach, so don't be shocked if he announces his retirement sometime soon. Oct. 13 - 10:10 am et

Daniels
The Pacers are expected to be without Marquis Daniels, Troy Murphy (Achilles), Mike Dunleavy (knee) and Travis Diener (toe) for Monday's exhibition.
We're not sure what is preventing Daniels from playing, but if there's no report it probably isn't too serious. Some good news, however -- Murphy has already resumed practicing and coach Jim O'Brien said that Dunleavy "will be practicing this week." Diener remains out indefinitely as he recovers from offseason toe surgery. Oct. 13 - 10:01 am et

Odom
Lamar Odom said before Sunday's game that he no longer minds being used as the Lakers sixth-man.
"That was like my alter-ago talking," Odom said of his negative reaction toward being a reserve. "I'm a good locker-room dude. I don't want to be detrimental to the team." Phil Jackson praised Odom's play after the game, so it appears the two have finally found some common ground. It looks like L.O. will indeed begin the season as a reserve, but his fantasy value shouldn't change much either way. Oct. 13 - 9:48 am et

Ellis
Monta Ellis' agent hinted on Sunday that his client will appeal the Warriors' 30-game suspension, according to USA Today.
We're not sure what grounds the appeal will be based on, since Ellis clearly violated his contract and then lied about the circumstances of his injury. Nothing is certain yet, but it sounds like this soap opera could drag on for a few more months. Oct. 13 - 9:02 am et

Billups
Chauncey Billups left Saturday's game with a tweaked ankle but was also bothered by a sore right elbow. He is questionable for Tuesday's exhibition.
"It was killing me when I woke up [Sunday] morning," Billups said. Neither injury sounds too serious and we expect him to be in the starting five on opening night. Look for Rodney Stuckey to put up some big numbers if Billups has to sit out on Tuesday. Oct. 13 - 8:50 am et

Carter
Vince Carter returned from a hamstring injury on Sunday and finished a win over Miami with 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Carter looked great and was fearlessly attacking the basket, resulting in 9-of-10 free throws. He is healthy and motivated to lead the young Nets, and could end up being a steal for his owners. Oct. 12 - 4:46 pm et
