Happy Birthday Princess!

July 14th, 2008 by Carl Thomas.

This is a pretty cool story.  It helps explain why I am so adamant with my support of continuist doctrine.

After having our son at the end of 2000, we wanted another child.  We got pregnant on our honeymoon so we assumed that having another was not going to be a problem.

A real low point in my walk ensued after 2 miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy in 2002.  My wife and I desperately wanted another baby.

My church co-hosted a Rodney Howard-Browne conference in November 2002.  Before the beginning of the 5 days of meetings I prayed and fasted that God would use Rodney in our healing.  I have seen Rodney pray for people

who wanted children and always asked them how many they wanted.  So before the first meeting, my wife and I decided on a number and were ready for our time.

On about the third day off meetings Rodney called out all kinds of ailments (he said that he could not remember doing that before) and one was difficulty having children.  I knew that wPrincess Anastasiaas for us.  When he came to us he asked us how many children we wanted.  After answering, he prayed for me and I instantly went out.  He then prayed for Tracey at length.  If you have been to his meetings, you know that he rarely goes beyond “Fire!” when praying for people But he prayed for Tracey for a few moments.

To make a long story short, about 8 1/2 months later, we sent out this postcard:

That was five years ago!  The Lord gave us her name which is another story all together.

Sure, you could say that it was mear coincidence that Rodney prayed for us and we had a successful pregnancy a little less than 9 months later.  But you could also give glory to God that He still heals.

So happy birthday princess!  Not only have you been a delight to live with, you are a walking example of God’s love for your mother and I.

I can’t believe my little girl is already 5. I am so thankful that God blessed us with her. Both of our kids are amazing. I love my family!

Carl,

I’ve kept this tab up for at least a month now because the first time I read it, I wanted to respond. Since I just responded to another post, I decided to force myself to gather my thoughts and respond to this one as well.

First, your daughter is beautiful!
Second, thank you for sharing your and your wife’s testimony. The main reason this caught my attention is because I celebrated 5 years of marriage last month, but my husband and I have not yet been blessed with children.

However, the Lord has sent his word several times that I will have children, even as recent as last week, and reminded me that it will come to pass! He has even gone so far to use three different people to refer to me as a bible character who went through the same thing by name, and so I’m learning to rejoice and receive my children even before they arrive on this planet.

This was very encouraging for me, and I trust for all of your readers who haven’t had children yet but are trusting God for the gift of parenthood. Thank you again — reading this the first time had such an impact, but I procrastinated on responding I guess because I wasn’t sure how to convey how much reading this meant to me. Blessings to you, your wife and your children!

I don’t know many things more difficult than having issues bearing children. There is such a sense of failure and disappointment at every negative confirmation.

I pray fruitfulness over you!

Carl,

Thank you! I receive that in the name of Jesus! My children will walk the face of this planet — and I will keep speaking those things that be not as though they are until they manifest!
