Chavez and Spanish king make up

(01:03) Rough Cut

Jul 25 - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Spain's King Juan Carlos are publicly reconciled following an earlier encounter when the king told the president to "shut up".

Relations between Spain and Venezuela went sour in 2007 when the king shouted at Chavez "Why don't you shut up?" when Chavez interrupted a speech by the Spanish Prime Minister at an Ibero-American summit in Chile.

Footage of the outburst was beamed around the world, inspiring mobile phone ringtones, mugs and T-shirts.

By contrast on Friday (25 July 2008), a relaxed Chavez joked with the smiling king as the two met outside a Spanish royal summer residence on the island of Majorca.

This video shows the contrasting encounters.
