LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Wimbledon champion Venus Williams has withdrawn from next week's Montreal Cup, the WTA Tour said on Friday.
Williams was also forced to pull out of this week's Los Angeles Classic with tendonitis in her right knee.
The American has not played a tour match since beating her sister Serena to claim her fifth Wimbledon title at the start of July.
Williams is now due to return to competitive tennis at next month's Beijing Olympics.
The WTA Tour also said on Friday that world number 12 Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia had withdrawn from the Montreal Cup due to a change in her schedule.
World number one Ana Ivanovic and third-ranked Maria Sharapova are set to lead next week's lineup.
