"Then Queen Esther answered, "If I have found favor with you, O king, and if it pleases your majesty, grant me my life—this is my petition. And spare my people—this is my request. For I and my people have been sold for destruction and slaughter and annihilation. If we had merely been sold as male and female slaves, I would have kept quiet, because no such distress would justify disturbing the king." Esther 7: 3-4
Queen Esther was a Jew, a woman, and a hero to her people. Queen Esther had the courage to stand up and save God's people from certain death. For thousands of years God has called on women to carry out His plan. He used Moses' mother and sister to keep him safe, Deborah was a judge and prophetess used by God, Mary brought God's son into this world, and Martha helped Jesus further the kingdom of God. God chose to use women throughout the Bible. He still chooses to use women today. Mothers, sisters, daughters, and grandmas all fit into God's plan. I often ask myself, if Esther could put her life on the line to carry out God's plan, what can I do for him? God has designed women in a special way to serve Him.
As a mom of 4 boys and 1 little girl, I cannot believe how different God made my little angel. She is truly a mommy to her new baby brother. When she is not trying to feed him or give him a pacifier, she is taking care of her own little baby doll. It is so amazing how God has designed her to love shoes, go shopping, and hold her own little purse. I love it! My boys cringe at the thought of even having to hold my purse for one minute, but she would carry it around the entire mall for hours!
She is only 1 ½ but the differences in her are already extremely noticeable. At such a young age I already know God has a plan for her life. Will she be like Esther and have to stand up for Christians to the people around her? Will she have to protect her own child from the world like Moses' mom did? Or maybe she will tell others about Christ like Martha. God calls each woman for a different purpose. He has a plan for each one of us. I find it a privilege to serve the King and pray each day that my daughter will find out that privilege for herself some day.
Join me this weekend as we continue our Summer series: "I Want An Answer!" This weekend, we're fielding your questions about God's plan for women - their role in the ministry and in the home! Don't miss it!
