Thought of the Day

I Love Aldi's

I have a new grocery store thanks to Pastor Deanna, she blogged about ALDI's over at "Lifetime Intimate Portraid" and I value her advice so I googled it to find a store in my area and that I did, there is one in Clearwater about 30 minutes away. Me and my two neices took a trip there the other day and I must say we came out with bags galore! Although they dont have many name brand items they did have a lot of the items we use and at lower cost - yippee!!!!

My boys were acting as if we hadnt had any food in pantry for a good little minute (lol), they were going through the bags as if they were on a marathon or something. I was able to get some of their favorite snacks in Aldi's brand but they were so excited they probaly never even noticed the difference. I had to pick up a few items today for my husband, I was headed to Albertson's and Josh (my youngest) blurts out, "Let's go to Aldi's" - it was a thought but I didnt feel like taking that drive especially since it was about to rain - I tell you this much though, after I got the bill I wished I would have listened (lol). After returning home I googled again to find a store closer to my home, well, guess what? There is a store opening not even 10 minutes away, right here in Largo on October 27th - O BOY AM I EXCITED!!!

You have just got to find a store near you, I'VE BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, and WILL BE RETURNING!

One of Those Days!

Today has been one of those days for me, that feeling of being down in the dumps! I believe the weather has something to do with it, at least I hope so. The kids and I had a good day in school, we decided to work in the living room on the floor today instead of at the dining room table - it was more of a low key day, stayed in pj's until around 1pm and worked slowly. I love Monday's because our lessons are 2 of my best subjects - Spelling and writing. Reading is also one of my favorite subjects but that class is on Wednesdays.

I must get ready to go and finish preparing supper and then I have some papers to grade along with a couple of Ministry assignments that have a deadline soon. I will blog again soon but until then I'm praying that the rest of my day brighten up a bit, I truly hate this feeling but I found out that it's normal.

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!!!

I would like to take this time to give thanks to my Heavenly Father for all that He has done for me and for allowing me to see another birthday. I can truly say that I could have been dead a long time ago but God had mercy on my soul. I was in a car accident where the paramedics couldn't believe I made out alive after seeing the car, I had eternal bleeding (unknowingly) and if I had went to the hospital an hour later I would have bleed to death, I was diagnosed with cancer during my last pregnancy and was told that If I decided to have the baby that me nor the baby would make it.

I am so glad that God had the last say in each of these experiences, not only am I alive but "I'M ALIVE & WELL!" Therefore, I give GOD all of the GLORY, HONOR and PRAISE for allowing me to see another year! Thank you, Father

"NERDY SUNDAY"

Oh my goodness, this going to be too funny! Tomorrow night is "Youth Sunday" (every 4th Sunday Night) and this month's them is "NERDY SUNDAY". The youth and any adults that want to participate will be dressing up like NERDS and the best nerdy dressed female and male will receive a gift each. I am so like ready to see what everyone looks like. I will definately be posting pictures of this service - hahaha - boy I can only imagine.
We will be having a short Praise & Worship Service, a mini sermon by Patrick Jr., do our voting and then afterwards we will be serving a light snack. I just realized that I havent even prepared a snack for tomorrow night, nor have I picked up the prizes yet - I am so not on the job I think it has something to do with my "LATE NIGHT OUT LAST NIGHT!" I still have time, I run to the store before night service tomorrow.

Out on the Town

My dear friend Pastor Kisha invited me to go to a service with her on last night in St. Petersburg, and I must say I truly enjoyed myself. They were raising funds to support orphanages in Israel and they had a Rabbi as the speaker. We were all expecting the traditional Rabbi in attire and all but what did we get -A BORN AGAIN JEW! A BORN AGAIN RABBI! This man was totally awesome and highly anointed.

It was a truly refreshing service, he opened up some things concerning the Jewish Culture and how easy it is to get caught up in traditions and customs and warned of the danger. I learned quite a bit about Jews in one night and to be honest I had never really thought about their culture before, just wasn't interested I guess. I know that the Jews are God's people and that we are engrafted in but to be honest I believe I was holding a grudge simply because how they treated my Lord and Savior, I'm all better now though - I know, "Forgive me Father for I knew not what I dideth! lol.

After service they served apples and honey which was different but "VERY TASTY!", along with some angel food cake and key lime cake. I guess we were still starving after the appetizer because, Pastor Kisha, myself, her 3 daughters, Pastor doss (another friend that joined us after the service) and her son ended up at "Denny's" - I ordered "Moons Over my Hammy", boy was it good and I must have been hungry or was being greedy one because I ate the whole sandwich and all of my hash browns - and it was worth it! I got in around 12:45, everyone was asleep except for my Joshua (awe, that's my baby and my DADDY!), I actually had to explain to him why I stayed out so late because he was sleepy but had to wait until I got home in order to go to bed, go figure, I thought I was the parent - well whatever works!

You're Shoes Are Too Big, Do They Belong To Someone Else?

I would like to start this post by saying how much I love and adore shoes. My shoes are one of the loves of my life - of course with God, my husband and kids being at the top of the list. It doesn't matter whether they are sandals, flip flops, high heels, pumps, boots, sneakers and bedroom shoes. I have many pairs of shoes, my husband says I have too many - yeah, easy for him to say.

Have you ever tried to walk in a larger size shoe? It didn't go over too well did it? Well, one of my younger sisters is a member at the church - she wear some really nice shoes to service and when asked she's quick to let me try them on knowing that I cant fit them anyways and vise verse. She's a size 8-8 1/2 and I'm a 6 - 6 1/2. Let me tell you, it's almost impossible to walk in someone else's shoes that are too big, you talk about being clumsy and the pain is almost unbearable - hurting feet is an awful pain, I hate it. For the comfort and health of your feet it's important that you wear your own shoes and the correct size.

When it comes to Ministry we must be careful not to wear someone else's shoes. What do you mean by that Pastor Melissa? I'm glad you asked. God has given each of us a unique gift(s) and talent(s). Whatever your calling may be it definitely fit you and only you, if it's singing then you'll sing well, if it's preaching, then you'll preach well, so on and so forth. It's important that you stay in your calling/gifting area for those are your shoes and it's easier to wear your own shoes than trying to fit into someone else's. Many Christians are putting more on themselves than they can bear by wearing shoes that are too large or shoes that belong to another. Many are preaching, pastoring, singing, teaching, evangelizing, that shouldn't be and when the load becomes too heavy and their feet begin to hurt they crumble under pressure.

Mind you, I'm not talking about those in leadership or workers in the ministry that are being tested by trial, because if you notice those that are wearing the correct shoes still stand under pressure, when it's all said and done they are indeed left standing! In my closing I encourage you to get in where God has assigned you because those are the shoes that He orchestrated for you. Seek God daily, strengthen your relationship with Him, conversate with Him often so that you can be sure that you're still wearing the correct shoes. Just because it looks and sounds good doesn't necessarily mean that you can fit it - it's not good works but OBEDIENCE that will cause us to be pleasing in God's sight!

A Bedtime Story?

I thought that I was too old for bedtime stories but I guess not. Kiahesia decided to read me and my hubby a bedtime story last night - well she actually read 3 (lol) from her book of bible stories. It works, it really works, bedtime stories really do put you to sleep and not just any kind of sleep but "A BLESSED SLEEP". It doesn't take much to spoil me so she just might be doing a lot more bedtime stories.

She told me this morning that not only did I fall asleep but so Patrick and my youngest, Joshua - I didn't even know he was listening. She had a little attitude about the whole sleep thing but I told her isn't that what bedtime stories are for? It was quite hilarious.

God Reigns in His House

Today was truly a blessed day if I do say so myself. I thank God for allowing us to be among the land of the living to enjoy such a day. This is the day that the Lord has made, we DID rejoice and was totally glad in it! Everything just went smooth, there was no rush, rush and I even got to the church an hour early instead of thirty minutes - whoo hoo! We had Communion today as well which was totally awesome. God reigned in His house, there was much weeping on today for deliverance and thankfulness for God's goodness!

I must say that I am so proud of "UNIQUE PRAISE" our Youth Praise and Worship Team, they do such an awesome job when they are up singing and playing the instruments. My husband or I do the call to Worship as to setting the atmosphere and then we turn it over to them for singing. We love using the youth, it's part of their training process - we not only use them in praise and worship but we use them in prayer, serving, ushering, greeters, etc and they do such an awesome job - the best part is that they are WILLING and READY to do the work of the Lord. Our Children's Church is officially up and running, so during the announcements the younger children were released to the Children's Church Teacher - Yes! Don't get me wrong, I love our children but it was so much more peaceful while the Word of God was being brought forth. They were just as excited as the adults were, they made little booklets on the "Lord's Prayer", they had to color the pictures, after service they were showing us there work of art - very colorful I must say.

My morning was good, the service was good, the word was good and as I type this post I realize that my whole day was good. Every now and then we need one of these days, especially on a Sunday! I believe God looked down on us today and saw that "IT WAS GOOD!" I have so much to do to prepare my lesson plan for this week for the kids - was sick most of last week so didn't get much done, I will work extra hard tomorrow as to get finished with it ASAP! I guess I will end the rest of my GOOD day by reading a few of my favorite blogs, take me a nice long shower, make me a cup of hot green tea, read the bible and finish it off in my prayer journal before turning in for the night - nightie night!

When the Storm of Life is Raging

When the Storm of Life is Raging

When the Storm rise and the wind blows ~ know that God is always with you.

When it seems as if all hope is gone ~ know that God is always with you.

It may be a tidal wave, hurricane, tornado or a tsunami too ~ but always remember that God is always with you.

Our Heavenly Father is forever present, forever knowing and forever willing to help us in our time of need.

God is always waiting patiently, ready with a helping hand, His arm is not too short so why haven't you took a hold of it?
You don't have to stay in the storm, come in from out of the rain for He is a strong tower, a place where we can run in and have refuge.

His Word says that He would never leave us nor forsake us - do you believe? His Word says, that He would put no more on us than we can bear, do you believe? His Word says, we are more than conquerors, do you believe? His Word says that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us, do you believe?

If you believe, then get up, brush off the residue from your life's storm and do your FIRST WORK OVER! If you're still breathing and if you're reading this post then you're better off than you think - guess what? Life's Storm haven't taken you out after all - so let's get moving because your Heavenly Father is waiting with outstretched arms!

Lot's of Love and be encouraged ~ Pastor Melissa
