McCain on marriage
The three candidates have the same stance on marriage: All three oppose same-sex marriage but believe it should be left to the states.
McCain, though, is the only one who's actively opposed a same-sex marriage ruling in his home state, and a reader forwards one of the ads he cut in favor of Arizona's same-sex marriage ban. It features slightly off-kilter images of gay couples and vertical images of straight couples.
Arizona's ban was the first to lose at the polls.
WONDER WHAT REP WASSERMAN SCHULTZ THINKS ABOUT THIS? does not have the same effect as wheb Vince F does his thing . Give it up. Posted By: Kelly
Ben, there's a typo in your title.
This always seems to come up right before an important election. It is an obvious polarizing issue. There are other issues which are much more important, such as the war, gas prices, the economy, foreclosures, unemployment. California does it again...... something that changes the subject to this rather than the more serious issues that affect our everyday lives.
weathervane mccain. flip flopping like a fresh caught trout.

Yes, that's interesting but what does he think about MARRIAGE?
McCain wants to protect the "sanctity" of marriage? Like dumping your invalid wife for a rich one? Blessed are the rich for they shall inherit the earth.

What does McCain know about marriage? He dumped his disabled wife for dope stealing Cindy!
Barack is certainly more liberal on the subject of same-sex marriage than his current political position. I'm sure when he gets elected he'll be officiating at gay weddings in the Oval Office. Gonna be great.

these comment sections are getting stranger as the election goes on... seems like recently at least a quarter of the posts on any thread make absolutely no sense whatsoever.
"these comment sections are getting stranger as the election goes on... seems like recently at least a quarter of the posts on any thread make absolutely no sense whatsoever." -- What does this mean? I can't make heads or tails out of it.

Dream Over please go back in to your hole you troll. Just face it, McCain has no chance in the fall with his failed policies and changing positions on very important issues. He slams the Democrats for wanting a phased withdrawal from Iraq and diplomacy by only speaking with our enemies. In the Washington Post this morning, there is a story about and interview with McCain in 2006 or 2007 in which he stated that we (America) would have to speak directly with Hamas now that they have been elected. Now that he's running for President, he wants to flip-flop on that issue so that the Dems. appear weak. Regarding Iraq, he outlined his crazy and non-substantive plan for his 1st year in office once elected. It included the Iraqi war being over and MOST of our soldiers home and peace in the Middle East. When questioned about this plan, McCain was unable to provide any specifics as to how this would be achieved.
Ben: SPELLCHECK...it's MarrIAge
I'll take failed policy's anyday over a racist in THE WHITE HOUSE.

The net effect of all this is that California is now in play with Obama as the nominee. What a nightmare...
Marriage is spelled this way: marriage.
I am not gay, but I support all marriage. If we can have single mothers and fathers who raise children very successfully (one issue of McSame's video), why is he saying gays or lesbians CANNOT raise children? If we can provide benefits of security in a relationship to a man and woman in marriage, why can't we provide the same to gays and lesbians? Why are people so AFRAID of gays and lesbians? What exactly are they frightened of? It is remenicent of "race" in this country. Why are people so AFRAID of a different skin color? As a 65 year old Latino female, I just don't believe that McSame is GOD and as a result, does NOT have the right to JUDGE! None of us have the right to judge others. If something does NOT 'directly affect' your life, why not let it be?
Ironically, the screen shot of the ad--shown above--pictures a same-sex couple. Can you spot the transgendered person in the photo?

this one's gonna go down in history as looking like one of those "women should stay home and cook" commercials from the '50s. Pathetic.

EVERYONE knows what McCain thinks of marriage. He thinks it should be jettisoned after his wife is severely disabled in a crash. He thinks it should be easy to throw off the burden of marriage when a very rich blonde 25 years his junior comes along. He shouldn't be touching this subject with a barge pole.

Tell that to a judge. Homosexuals are not asking to be left alone. They are demanding that national the imprimatur be put on their defective sexuality whether we like it or not. And *they* have made it everyone's business with their in-your-face behavior. Not just that, they demand that it be promoted among children in the schools using taxpayer resources to do so.

I'm just wondering how many of those 92% black supporters of Obama's would be voting for him if he had a white lady on his arm with the title of Mrs Obama? After all, he is half white.
