I began blogging in 2001 just before leaving for Nepal with the Peace Corps (read about my Peace Corps experience). I had little idea of what a blog was then, just as people probably won’t in another ten years. But I’m here, it’s now, and I’m sharing what I’ve produced.

Trying to blog from the hot flatlands of Nepal with erratic electricity and infrequent Internet access led me here: reducing blog design to its essential elements. Blogging was hard while waiting for a 120 kb banner image on a 28.8 kb/s modem.
After three years of that struggle, I returned to the US knowing a thing or two about blogging. I started using WordPress. I learned a little PHP. And I made my first WordPress theme available for download, veryplaintxt. More followed.
My interest is seeing how minimal a blog theme can be. While I am happy with a white background and black text, I’m asking: Can minimalist design appeal to the common blogger not only the austere or designer? Possibly. Because I am neither a designer nor aesthete.

Donations
If you find the themes I provide for free useful, please consider donating. Voluntary support from users is what makes releasing themes possible—for free. Consider throwing a few bucks my way. It is earnestly appreciated and encourages updates.
And donations are an excellent way to say “Thanks.”
