Welcome to Sunday University - a new innovative approach to learning!
Sunday U is designed with you in mind. Come join us for an hour each week to grow in your walk with Christ while connecting with others in the PFA family. Regardless of your interests or background, we have a place for you!
Sunday U offers you FREE educational opportunities to expand your knowledge in a variety of areas this fall. Classes to teach and encourage you in business, personal finance, cross-cultural ministry, health & fitness, evangelism, marriage & family issues as well as biblical studies both for beginner and advanced students.
The fall session begins September 7th at 9:00 a.m. and runs through November 23rd, 2008.
Experience a variety of instructors and topics in a relaxed interactive environment. We encourage you to try out new classes each session, meeting new people, and connecting with others as we grow together in Christ.
Classes are held on our lower campus with convenient parking and easy access to classrooms.

This class is a place for real women to be encouraged by life-changing lessons that remind us that regardless of where we’ve come from or what our past holds, you can find true forgiveness and be used by God in great ways! F606-607 – Pastor David & Lisa Blythe
Converge is a new ministry at PFA created for young married couples and couples with young children. This class will utilize a variety of popular Christian books focused on strengthening couples relationships in a fun and interactive way through ongoing class participation and discussion.
Pastor David Blythe and his wife Lisa have served at Phoenix First Assembly for nine years in a variety of ministries. Through their experience in ministry they have learned everything is built upon a solid foundation; first with Jesus Christ and secondly with one another. David and Lisa desire to help in building healthy relationships and strong families within this local body of Christ.

Looking to succeed in the business world? Receive excellent biblical leadership principles along with real life business experiences and insights for success from our own PFA business leaders. Learn to be a better worker, manager, and leader. Each week will spotlight a different “courageous†business person. Be sure to come prepared to learn and ask questions.
Dawn Garcia, a PFA member for over 23 years and a business executive for over 20 years, will head up a team of exciting business entrepreneurs with varied backgrounds and businesses, right from PFA.
UNDERSTANDING AND MINISTERING TO MUSLIMS F616 – Bandaly Baddour
This course provides a backdrop to understanding the importance of knowing other cultures and gaining perspective from their point of view. You will learn more about understanding Islam- and how to reach out and minister to Muslims. This class will open your eyes to share the gospel.
Bandaly Baddour was born in the Biblical town of Bethlehem and immigrated to the United States in 1979; he is married to Arlyn and they have three children. Bandaly has a B.S. in Physics, a Master’s in Mathematics and MBA in Global Management and works for Sprint. Bandaly leads an Arabic Bible study in the west valley.

Janie Clark has been a financial planner with over 28 years of experience in teaching others about God’s perspective on finances. This class is taught by a team of teachers who have taken the stewardship journey themselves.

Prayer Pavilion Multi-Purpose Room – Cynthia Hosseini
This 12 week discipleship program will move you into a deeper and more disciplined walk with God. This course will equip you to have a true servant heart.
Cynthia Hosseini has a passion to know God more intimately. Cynthia has been serving and ministering with her husband in the Prayer Ministry for the last 12 years and leads a women’s prayer group.
A WORTHWHILE JOURNEY! F604 – Debbie Valentine
Be a healthier you – one step at a time. This class will incorporate many facets of your health from a biblical perspective. Learn basic nutrition, weight management, the principles of exercise and why it is important for our health shown in a simple easy to manage program that will work for you. This session offers a variety of speakers to encourage and challenge you to make life changes…one step at a time.
Debbie Valentine will be leading the exciting team of speakers. Debbie has a background in nursing is a certified biblical health coach, wellness educator and business owner. She and her husband Dan have been attending PFA for over 23 years and have been involved in many ministries. Debbie’s motto is – Being Healthy is Intentional.
THE LORD’S PRAYER AND KINGDOM OF GOD Prayer Pavilion - Pastor Saeed Hosseini
Aspects of prayer and fasting including; what is prayer? Hearing God’s Voice, Avoiding hindrances to prayer and more. This class will benefit both beginners and veteran prayer warriors.
Pastor Saeed Hosseini heads the Prayer Ministry and leads the 24-hour Prayer Pavilion on campus and oversees all prayer groups at PFA.
THE CLASS FOR MATURE CHRISTIANS A - 102 - Doug & Denise Preudhomme
A special group centered on prayer, learning God’s word – and loving each other. Join us for a time of worship the word and fellowship.
Doug Preudhomme works daily with many national ministries helping them to grow and reach their God given objectives.
SENIORS AND SPECIAL PEOPLE MINISTRY A-101 - Cherie Brown
This class will help you walk in and maintain the inner strength God has given you! Ephesians 3:16. A compassionate ministry for handicap and special people.
Cherie Brown has been a member of PFA for 20 years. She is a gifted worshipper and has great compassion for Special People.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR PLACE IN THE BODY OF CHRIST F605 – Anthony Feola
Learn why “The Church†is a dominating force in society. It is called to control the spiritual atmosphere with the authority of Christ. A real man, a man of God, comes underneath Gods mission for his life. This class creates a foundation for “Christ likeness†that will challenge men to develop their leadership qualities in their marriage, home, workplace, and community.
Jason DeBus, a member of Phoenix First for over 23 years, is a 1990 graduate of Masters Commission and Licensed Minister. Jason has worked with PFA Youth, College/Career, Campus Outreach, Singles, and Marriage Ministry and was appointed Director of Phoenix First Men in May 2007. Jason resides in Phoenix with his wife Heather and two children, John and Miah.
LEARN THE BIBLE IN 24 HOURS PART 1/OLD TESTAMENT E507/508 - Stan Reynolds
Scholars throughout the ages have devoted lifetimes to studying the Bible. But for most of us, this simply isn’t practical or possible. “Learn the Bible in 24 Hours†will provide you with a strategic grasp of the “big picture†of scripture that enables you understand the Word in a deeper way. We will survey the primary concepts, overarching themes, and historical background of the Bible. This class is ideal for those new to the faith.
Stan Reynolds holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in both science and business. His classes focus on the rational basis for biblical faith. Member of PFA since 1970 and current PFA Board Member.
F615 – Kevin Gray
The Ripple Effect is a course designed to equip Christ followers for effective evangelism in today’s world. The class will show ordinary believers how they can create ripples in their sphere of influence by sharing their faith in a natural and powerful way. Each session’s exercises, discussions, and self assessments give step-by-step guidance to help participants become effective communicators for Christ to those around them.
Kevin Gray has been an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God for nearly twenty years. He has pastured two churches and has taught at Western Bible College. He and his wife Linda have been PFA members since 1994.
