In 2006, Trinity Church became a member of the Miami-Dade Resiliency Collaborative which was recently funded by Volunteer Florida (The Governor's Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service) to conduct an innovative project in emergency preparedness. This innovative project focused on assisting economically vulnerable populations-those who live in survival mode everyday-- to prepare basic resources both pre- and post-disaster. Rosemary White, Peacemakers Disaster Preparedness Coordinator, trained 74 people to go out and prepare and train their communities for disaster preparation. In addition, Peacemakers facilitated the training of twenty people to become CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Teams) members. During times of natural disaster or terrorist attack our trained CERT members will provide basic first aid, search for victims, and put out small fires. They will also work directly with the police and fire departments to provide information on the neighborhoods status. Peacemakers partnered with Miami-Dade Office of Emergency Management to become a Point of Distribution (POD) for the distribution of emergency relief supplies.
In addition, Peacemakers has developed Continuity of Operations Plan for Trinity Church and the Peacemaker's Family Center which meets the requirements Miami Dade County Department of Human Services.
