The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians." (from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

FRC's 25 Point Memo in Advance of the GOP Convention

by: davidhart

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 17:09:01 PM EDT

(Nine of 25? Wow. Who would have thought that The Homosexualist Agenda rated this much attention with the country's economy in the crapper? - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

[image]This is their "platform" and it is supposed to serve as a blueprint for politicians. Nine of the 25 directly relate to us:

* The definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman should be enshrined in state constitutions. Ideally, such amendments should reserve the benefits granted to marriage for married couples only.

* Congress should oppose, and the president should veto, any effort to dilute, weaken, or repeal the Defense of Marriage Act.

* Congress should pass, and the states should ratify, an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman nationwide.

* Until the Marriage Protection Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is adopted, Congress should consider measures which would withhold certain related federal funding from any state that fails to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman. For example, federal "family planning" funds could be withheld from any state that fails to recognize authentic marriage as the foundation of the healthy "family."

* Improve understanding and enforcement of the 1993 statute affirming that homosexuals are ineligible to serve in the military, and oppose congressional efforts to repeal the law.

* Congress should reject (or the president should veto) the "Employment Non-Discrimination Act."

* Congress should reject (or the president should veto) any federal "hate crimes" legislation including sexual orientation.

* State legislatures and governors should reject similar bills.

* Congress should pass legislation that affirms and strengthens the religious freedom of Americans as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and rooted in the nation's history. A "Freedom of Conscience Protection" law should protect the right of individuals, businesses, and religious institutions to express and carry out their moral views regarding homosexuality in the schools, in the workplace, or in the public square without fear of legal retribution.

How Does Regent U. Define "Sexual Minorities?"

by: davidhart

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 14:15:22 PM EDT

(Good luck getting any kind of rationals answer to your questions, David. - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

Someone - like me - has to be sufficiently deranged to read this crap and then seek answers to these questions.

This from their "Institue For the Study of Sexual Identity." I am sure that they will never receive any Nobel prizes. I am equally certain that their study of "sexual identity" is anything but.

http://www.sexualidentityinsti...

This is an interesting discussion in light of recent research conducted by ISSI of 104 sexual minorities enrolled in three Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) member institutions. The study addressed both campus climate and sexual behavior and identity. Concerning beliefs and values about homosexuality, very few sexual minorities gave any indication of accepting same-sex behavior.

Someone please enlighten me!

I assumed that they found 104 gay students at Christian colleges. If that's what they mean, how and where would they find these very brave (yet spectacularly stupid) people? Furthermore, how could they identify these students and then have them say that they did not accept "homosexual behaviors?"

A Tedious yet Civil, Civil Forum

by: davidhart

Sun Aug 17, 2008 at 14:24:04 PM EDT

To put the night in perspective, one has to wonder if John McCain would accept an invitation to participate in a forum moderated by the Human Rights Campaign. Senator Obama knew, in advance, that the neither the audience nor the format (which precluded follow-up questions) were favorable to him. He took his chances.

Presumably, Obama had modest goals. In contrast to the portrayals by the far right, Senator Obama demonstrated that he was not an alien creature. He was out of his element but never a fish out of water. Moreover he showed that he is reflective, honest, intellectually curious and open to opposing points of view. He was the antitheses of George Bush. At times he was too professorial and seemed to lack the enthusiasm that is one of his greatest strengths. Senator Obama probably did no harm.[...]

Of all the reasons people give for banning gay marriage - the purpose of Proposition 8 on the November ballot - the most difficult for us to fathom is that a marriage between two people of the same sex somehow diminishes the institution of marriage between a man and a woman.

Family Policy Network

by: davidhart

Fri Aug 15, 2008 at 19:35:38 PM EDT

This one pissed me off more than usual. Using the Matthew Shepard murder to excuse hate crimes in beyond even the most despicable fundies.
2008 "Hate Crimes" Articles Reveals USA TODAY's Liberal Bias

[FPN] - Members of the media have long twisted the facts surrounding the 1998 death of college student Matthew Shepard, inferring he was killed simply because of his homosexuality. This baseless claim was made by many "gay" activists soon after Shepard's death in an effort to silence critics who seek to discourage various forms of sexual immorality.

An article in the 3/10/08 USA Today preceeded [sic] the 2008 introduction of legislation in Congress that would give special protections to some victims of violent crimes, based on their private, sexual conduct. USA Today's article is just another example of left-wing radicals masquerading as objective journalists.

Shepard was murdered for only one reason - he was gay. There are no responsible competing theories. This is disgraceful on the part of Family Policy Network. Once again, truth does not seem to be a coveted "value" of so-called Christians.

Those Seven Things That Bob Davies Wants us to Admit

by: davidhart

Wed Aug 13, 2008 at 19:12:08 PM EDT

Refuting Bob Davies (past President of Exodus International) is easy. I am engaging in the exercise only because his polemic, written in 2002, continues to be cited by the usual suspects to support anti-gay discrimination.
Seven Things I Wish Pro-Gay People Would Admit

I'm not sure that I know what "Pro-Gay People" means. Presumably, that includes people who are not gay themselves. Are they compelled to make these admissions?

Musings on Homophobia

by: davidhart

Tue Aug 12, 2008 at 15:43:16 PM EDT

Is Repressed Homosexuality at the Core of Homophobia?

Perhaps, according to an article published in Psychiatric News by the American Psychiatric Association in September of 1996. Two groups of men were selected using a carefully constructed scale to measure homophobia. One group exhibited homophobic tendencies; The other did not. Both group's members identified themselves as exclusively heterosexual.

The men were shown sexually explicit videos of a heterosexual couples, lesbian couples and gay male couples. The levels of arousal by the men in both groups were virtually the same in response to the heterosexual and lesbian videos.

A Communique From the Religious Right

by: davidhart

Sat Aug 09, 2008 at 14:40:46 PM EDT

( - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

I want to reiterate that I have complete respect for other people's religious beliefs - or lack thereof. Moreover, with respect to virtually all of the email that I receive from the Religious Right, they go out of their way to be polite, even gracious. While I would argue that those at the top of the pyramid - the likes of Dobson, Perkins, Bauer and Wildmon - are in it for the money and political power, the true believers are committed to the literal "word of God" as provided by the Bible.

At the end of a rather lengthy, polite and even respectful email exchange, the author writes:

"... In the meantime I would appreciate if you could consider the possibility that God never wanted people to practice homosexuality and that Christ can set people free from such desires. I wish you the best ... "

(If Don Wildmon's crew is going to use sales figures alone as a measure of its boycott "success" -- as it did with Ford -- then I guess it's time to admit Ronald McDonald gave the American Family Association and The Peter a few piledrivers. - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

Wait - isn't there supposed to be a boycott by people opposed to gay rights?

NEW YORK (AP) - Despite a tough U.S. economy, McDonald's Corp. posted an 8 percent gain in July same-store sales on Friday as hungry consumers worldwide lined up for breakfast items and the classic Big Mac sandwich.

Many consumers have cut back on eating out amid economic weakness and rising gasoline prices, but business at the Golden Arches held up well in July, especially in the U.S.

The Latest Aniti-Obama BS

by: davidhart

Wed Aug 06, 2008 at 11:25:05 AM EDT

This started on WND and now it's here:
http://www.onenewsnow.com/Elec...
They used the GA from Gaza so it makes it look like it's legal and then for the zip code it says '972,' which is actually the area code to dial over to Gaza," she contends.

Yes, these contributions exist and, yes, they are over the limit:
http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/by...

The fact is that the campaign is not responsible for the information submitted to the FEC - which is generated by the on-line form. The donor selected "GA" from the dropdown list and input the inaccurate zip code. The campaign has no control over who can make contributions on-line.

Moreover, the donor would have to lie about US citizenship or they would be unable to subit the form.

There is absolutely no effort by the Obama campaign to obfuscate the transactions. Disclosure is the primary obligation of the campaign - one they met.

The law is clear (emphasis added):

No candidate or political committee shall knowingly accept any contribution or make any expenditure in violation of the provisions of 11 CFR part 110.

The campaign will have to return these funds but it's a non-issue.

Phil Magnan is frequently wrong - never uncertain.

There are millions of children in this country who are malnourished, poorly educated and lack adequate medical care. Presumably Magnan's pastoral energies could be better utilized to actually help people in contrast to gay bashing.  Ultimately, Magnan is desperately trying to justify what he believes is a biblical prohibition. Doing so requires fanciful leaps of logic and considerable selective observation..

The folks who have used the bible to justify any number of misdeeds, from the prosecution of Galileo to slavery and racial discrimination were just as certain as Magnan is that they were acting in accordance with God's will. If there is a God, surely the Golden Rule will be our measure.

Boot Camp: Lessons in Ignorance [VIDEO]

by: davidhart

Thu Jul 31, 2008 at 13:31:49 PM EDT

Behold the mighty army of the future. These children are being victimized to advance an agenda that includes prejudice and ignorance. What is most abhorrent about this indoctrination is not that these kids are being compelled into embracing Creationism. Rather, it is the promotion of the idea that science, and empirical evidence, are subordinate to scripture. These children are essentially being "educated" not to be critical thinkers Their natural gift of intellectual curiosity is being squandered so that they may be the holy warriors of the future.

ACLU news release:

aclu OKEECHOBEE, Fla. - The American Civil Liberties Union today announced that Federal Judge K. Michael Moore ruled that school officials in Okeechobee, Florida, must allow a gay-straight alliance (GSA) club to meet on campus.  In a precedent-setting order, the judge upheld his earlier ruling that GSAs do not interfere with abstinence-only education and in a legal first, holds that schools must provide for the well-being of gay students.

Moore also broke the legal mold by asserting that schools must provide for the well-being of gay students to the same extent as straight students and therefore, the school may not discriminate against the GSA. In the order, the court grants students in the GSA "all the rights and privileges granted to other noncurricular groups." The victory is the second federal student rights case won by the ACLU of Florida's LGBT Advocacy Project and the national ACLU LGBT Project this summer.

"Judge Moore's ruling that GSAs are beneficial to gay students and that they don't harm straight students is unparalleled. This is a clear victory for the students, for the Okeechobee GSA and indeed for all high school students in Florida," said Robert Rosenwald, Director, ACLU of Florida LGBT Advocacy Project.  "These are brave students who would not be silenced and did not tolerate discrimination.  So many children cannot stand up for themselves, but hopefully this ruling will serve as warning to other Florida schools that equal access truly means equal access, and schools that choose not to follow the law will be inviting similar litigation."

The ACLU prevailed in Okeechobee on both Equal Access Act and First Amendment grounds. The federal Equal Access Act (20 U.S.C. § 4071(a)) requires schools that allow any extracurricular activities to meet on campus to allow all extra-curricular student groups to do so, and to treat every club equally.

Regarding the First Amendment, Judge Moore quoted the famed 1969 Tinker case stating that students do not "shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate."  Moore went on to state that "the desire of the GSA to meet as a group to discuss matters pertinent to the challenges presented by their non-heterosexual identity and to build understanding and trust with other heterosexual students sounds in the political speech addressed in Tinker."

In referencing Tinker, Moore refers to Gillman v. School Bd. For Holmes County, Fla., a First Amendment case won by the ACLU in May after a two-day trial in which the high school principal testified that he believed clothing or stickers featuring rainbows would make students automatically picture gay people having sex.  In June, federal judge Richard Smoak ordered Ponce de Leon High School to pay $325,000 in legal fees to the American Civil Liberties Union after ruling that the school violated student Heather Gilman's Constitutional right to free speech. Gillman and her friends were suspended from school after wearing clothes and stickers supporting their openly gay friends.

Moore noted "that the GSA's tolerance based message would not materially or substantially interfere with discipline in the operation of the school. In order for [the school board] to justify its refusals to recognize the GSA as a student organization, 'it must be able to show that its action was caused by something more than a mere desire to avoid the discomfort and unpleasantness that always accompany an unpopular viewpoint.' This is precisely what [the school board] has failed to do."

This order will allow the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and straight students to meet on campus, just as other non-curricular clubs do, to discuss issues about bullying, tolerance and discrimination. GSAs across the state and country have been shown to help gay and straight students feel safer at school, and provide an open forum for students to discuss their fears, hopes and challenges.

"I can't tell you how happy I am that the judge agreed we have a right to create a safe space for gay students at my school," said Brittany Martin, a 17-year-old upcoming senior at OHS who is the GSA's president.  She added, "All we've ever wanted was to have a club to talk about tolerance and harassment so we can try to make our school a better place for all students."

"It has been a long road and we are very pleased with the outcome.  Now the students at Okeechobee High School can start the new school year with a clean slate and openly discuss the problems they face with fellow classmates," added Rosenwald.

The ACLU filed the federal lawsuit in November 2006 after students at Okeechobee High School were denied access to meet on campus by their principal, Toni Wiersma. Then-senior Yasmin Gonzalez approached the ACLU and after several failed attempts by the ACLU to convince the school to comply with the Federal Equal Access Act, the lawsuit was filed. The ACLU won a preliminary injunction in 2007 allowing students to meet on campus after repeated failed attempts by the defendants to characterize the club as "sex-based".

The Federal Equal Access Act requires schools to treat gay-straight alliances as they would any other school group.  Federal courts have repeatedly ruled in favor of GSA's where schools tried to block their formation, upholding students' right to form the groups across the U.S., including in Salt Lake City, Utah; White County, Georgia; Orange County, California; Franklin Township, Indiana; and Boyd County, Kentucky.

Lead attorney in Yasmin Gonzalez vs. School Board of Okeechobee County was Robert Rosenwald, Director of the ACLU of Florida's LGBT Advocacy Project, with assistance from Ken Choe of the ACLU's national LGBT Project and Zeina Salam of the ACLU of Florida.  A copy of the opinion in can be viewed in PDF at: http://www.aclufl.org/pdfs/GSA...
