This is the list of my favorite Wordpress Plugins. These are 10 plugins that I always use :

Akismet

Usually it’s already installed on new wordpress installation. You just need to get a Wordpress.com API keyand activate it. This plugin will learn about spam coming to your blog.

All in One SEO Pack

This is a must-have plugin. It will help you to tweak titles, descriptions and keywords. You can do it on per post / page basis.

Bookmarkify

The Social Media Marketing Plugin that lets you put social bookmarking links in your posts and other pages. Help your readers promote your blog on 50 social bookmarking services including “Email This” link. But maybe 50 is too much for you, luckily, you can customize it (I only show 10 of them). And it also provide CSS classes so you can modify the style.

CommentLuv

Once a comment is submitted, this plugin will check RSS feed from commenter’s blog and show his/her last post.

Exec-PHP

When static HTML code is not enough, you may insert PHP codes for more dynamic contents. Be careful when using this plugin, especially when you insert :

Google XML Sitemaps

This plugin will make your blog more search-engine-friendly. Combined with robots.txt, it will help you to create plain xml sitemap and compressed xml sitemap, and to notify search engines.

But I recommend you not to activate auto notify / ping because wordpress will automatically ping search engines using http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ everytime you publish a post. So the next rapid pings can be considered as spam by search engines.

If you really want to ping them, you can use external ping services like iPings.

One Click Installer

This is the FIRST PLUGIN you have to install ! After that you can install other plugins and themes easily without having to upload (and extract) them manually via ftp or your hosting file manager.

Just make sure you have set a correct permission on your wp-content/themes and wp-content/plugins directory.

It also has firefox / flock extension so you can easily customize your wordpress blog from your browser !

Wordpress.com Stats

You don’t need to install your own statistic script on your server. Use this plugin and your blog’s statistics will be automatically recorded and you can view the report through admin dashboard.

Wordpress Automatic Upgrade

Wordpress Automatic Upgrade allows you to automatically upgrade the wordpress installation to the latest one provided by wordpress.org using the 5 steps provided in the wordpress upgrade instructions. You only need to provide your ftp login.

WP Security Scan

It will measure your wordpress blog’s security, including directories and files permission.
