Commercial History
On•Cor is Famous for its Commercials.
Our well-known TV ads have reached millions of people throughout the country. The jingle “For taste and more, it’s On•Cor,” is often cited as one of the most memorable in advertising history. For years, American consumers welcomed “Al the Grocer” into their homes – on the TV screen and at the dinner table. Richard Kind, the "On•Cor Guy" is picking up where Al left off, ready to offer assistance to those consumers who just can’t finish On•Cor’s Family-Size entrées.

(Ben Stiller’s parents) with
On•Cor's Founder, Sol Friend.
On•Cor's ad campaign, created by Blue Chip Marketing and Communications, a suburban Chicago advertising and marketing firm, leverages the rich heritage of On•Cor’s advertising while updating the campaign to resonate with today’s consumers.
Richard Kind is a natural to carry on the On•Cor legacy of impactful and humorous advertising. Building on the momentum of hit TV sitcoms like SpinCity and Mad About You, he will elevate On•Cor’s television presence, and introduce a whole new audience to the Family-Size entrée category.
From On•Cor’s inception in 1946, advertising has played a unique role. On•Cor’s founder, Sol Friend, was a pioneer in television advertising, utilizing sponsorships and product placements, and associating the brand with spokespeople and popular children’s characters. Even in the company's early days, we recognized the value of retail support, and the company made heavy use of radio and television, especially children's programs.
In the early 1950s, the Garfield Goose Children's TV Show offered a Rubber Tubby Duck as a premium for one On•Cor Minute Steaks wrapper and 25 cents. The initial response was disappointing until it was discovered that the mail was placed in the wrong post office box! What a relief. When corrected, we then mailed out almost 20,000 Rubber Tubby Ducks.
Later, we worked with Jim Henson’s Muppets to create a new muppet character called “Oncky.” Radio advertisements have featured such celebrities as the comedy duo of Jerry Stiller and Ann Meara (Ben Stiller’s parents), and Arlene Francis.

On•Cor’s Full For Family!
In 2006, we celebrated our 60th Anniversary, and we couldn’t be more excited of what we’ve accomplished through the years. From the earliest days of my father, Sol Friend, going door-to-door himself with the On•Cor truck, to our creation of the Family-Size category in 1958, to the dozens of new products, the aim remains the same — deliver the highest quality Family-Size entrées to families everywhere. It's been an amazing ride, but we have to admit, we feel the best is yet to come!
Our Pizza Pop’ems have already proven to be a success. Whether they're "popped" as an after-school snack, an appetizer before dinner, or as the official big game favorite, you know you can always "Pop’em Anytime".
We continue to form partnerships with notable entertainment companies such as DreamWorks, Disney and Sony Pictures. These programs consist of on-packaging coupons for DVDs and FSIs (Free Standing Inserts) announcing the collaboration and promotion.
If that weren’t enough, we continue to generate maximum exposure in-store, on the Web, and over the airwaves with Hispanic radio and excellent television commercials. It’s all part of the Family-Size support you've come to expect from On•Cor.
Make it a family Night with On•Cor Frozen Foods
Sincerely,
