Second Life® is a 3-D virtual world entirely created by its Residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by millions of Residents from around the globe.
Many educational institutions are exploring the possibility of using this tool as an online instructional environment. One of its advantages over videoconferencing is the reduced bandwidth necessary. Another is the ability to break into smaller groups.
Here is a listing of ODLA members experimenting in Second Life and their SLurls.
Lance Ford has posted his SLurl.
Tina Steele is the proprietor of The Bloggers Cafe.
Dr [dot] Blayne Mayfield, of the OSU Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence, is using it in his Video Game Design & Development course this semester.
Kent Brooks and James Deaton are members of Sloodlers, a group interested in integrating Second Life with Moodle.
