Note: Submitting your site is not the same as getting a good listing for your site. For that, you will need to optimize your site for the search engines.
Its interesting to know that many search engines take their feeds from one of a few search engine databases like Google, Fast, Overture, Teoma and the like. So for example, Google fuels numerous engines, including, at the time of this writing, the web search facility at Yahoo. If it's not listed, then it's not a valid search engine.
