The Favorite Website Awards

This is amazing. I browse this site all the time just for inspiration. Theres this website (www.thefwa.com) that takes THE BEST OF THE BEST of flash based websites around the world and features one every day, then they have “website of the week/month/year” awards. Its so incredible what some of these design firms come up with. Many people already watch this site closely but if you dont, you should start. It really shows where technology is going and whats really possible out there. I love it…..check it out…..

Intelligent Conversations and Bar Hopping

It was a typical Ryan Nicholson weekend, but pretty low key. I coach a high school ski jumping team and we had a ski meet like two hours north on Friday night. So we headed up there early (like 2pm) and got down to business. The guys had a hard time getting used to the […]

Tutorial: Creating a Custom MySpace Layout

So, I’ve had so many people ask me how to do this I thought I’d sit down and explain it in more detail. On a difficulty scale it’s probably a 3 out of 5 so make sure you have at least a basic understanding of HTML and CSS and some photoshop skills to design the […]

CSS Formatter and Optimiser

This is a badass tool I found while browsing the internet a while back. I’m not a professional programmer by any means so when I find a tool that will help clean up my code I get excited. Measuring Quality In Design

Too many organizations hire designers and expect top-notch quality from them, because that’s what they do. It’s important to understand basic design theory so you can separate the good from […]

Optikz Studios MySpace Layout

As many of you have probably already seen, I recently finished up a MySpace layout for Optikz Studios Designer Photography. Eddie, the photographer for Optikz described it as “badass” and I’ll have to agree with him. Check it out!

Entertaining “real job” possibilities

So I sent my resume out for the first time in years today to a british company that my buddy Rick works for. It should be interesting to see what happens, I’m really not sure what to expect.
About a month ago I started talking with a creative services staffing company out of Boston called Digital […]

A Dynamic Website VS. Static HTML

I wrote this report as an introduction to new technologies for a law firm that ran an online magazine style website by creating new HTML pages for each new article. It is merely a gist of the subject, however maybe someone else out there can use it to help explain the advantages of using a […]

Welcome to the mayhem

This is me, these are my thoughts and oppinions, and this is my website. I am Ryan. I live in New Hampshire and make my money as a freelance graphic and new media handyman. For a long time I’ve kept journals on and off. I have this notebook from when I was living in NY […]
