[image]Search by nucleotide sequence similarity

Because 3D structure is strongly conserved in molecular evolution, one can often make valid inferences concerning structure and function by examining the structures of related sequences. To find a structure for a sequence, you must first find a protein or related protein for the sequence:

Find the sequence of interest using an accession or keyword search in Entrez's nucleotide sequence database (use blastx if the sequence is new and not in Entrez). If the protein has a link to "Proteins," click on it. Follow the procedure for finding structures for proteins. If your query returns a long list of nucleotides, you can filter the list to show only nucleotides with links to proteins . To do this, select "Protein Links" in the drop down text-box next to the "Display" button, and then click on the "Display" button. This will return a list of protein links.

If all else fails, try using blastx against the pdb database.
