VAST Search is NCBI's structure-structure similarity search service. It compares 3D coordinates of a newly determined protein structure to those in the MMDB/PDB database. VAST Search computes a list of structure neighbors that you may browse interactively, viewing superpositions and alignments by molecular graphics. From this page, you can either start a new Vast Search or retrieve the Vast Search results for previously submitted jobs.

To start a new search, please put your data into a text file using PDB File format. Enter the file name in the following line, choose a subset for searching and click the "Submit" button. The (default) "Medium-redundancy Subset of PDB" is about 1/10 the size of "All of PDB" and therefore the search will be much faster.
