*************************
Moving week is here--ready or not! There are a lot of last minute details to attend to and in between caring for our little girls, traveling for a few days to secure and clean our new rental, and my continued struggle with morning sickness and tiredness, it will be a busy week.

Since I knew that we would be too busy to spend much time on food preparations this week and that it would be easy to fall back on fast food or take out, my husband and I decided to devise an alternative plan.

We looked through our cupboards and refrigerator to what food we still had left in there (we've been doing our best to whittle it down over the last month so that we'd be down to the bare-bones by moving day) and came up with a list of some very quick and simple meals and snacks we could put together with what we already had on hand and a few additional ingredients at the store.

Here's the list we came up with:

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
Quesadillas
Cold cereal
Oatmeal
Beans and rice
Pancakes
Granola bars
Turkey and cheese sandwiches
Fruit/Veggies
Chips and salsa
Scrambled eggs with hashbrowns and cheese

The best news of all, was that we were able to stick within our $40/week grocery budget yet again this week! Now obviously, this is not what we usually subsist on and I don't know that it exactly qualifies as a "balanced diet", but it will be much cheaper and likely healthier than eating a diet of fast food. And hopefully soon I'll be back to baking and cooking from scratch again.

So that's one way we saved money this week. How'd you do this week? Post about the deals and bargains you were able to snag this week or other ways you saved money on your blog (with pictures, if possible!) and then come back here and leave your link below. **To make it easy for everyone to navigate quickly through the links, your link must link directly to your Super Savings Saturday post.**

Great job sticking to the $40 budget. That is great!

Cant wait to read all these super savings stories!

Good luck with moving Crystal! :)

Oh come on...you're too good for Subway? Aaron and I survived a week of eating it when we moved a month ago... *laughs*

Just kidding. This was a far wiser thing that you did than I did when we moved. I thought, "Oh, yeah...I'll have plenty of time to cook!" Little did I know, moving with a one year old is NOT fun, and not easy.

Good plans, sister. Best wishes for a safe, stress free, happy move! Isn't living near family again wonderful!? I know we're enjoying it!

Hi..I am new at this and linked to the wrong post (#37) for SSS. You can erase it so I can link to this weeks! Thanks....Wish I could get my groceries down to $40 a week...wow!

Sorry delete #40 not #37! My brain is not functioning today. Need more sleep ;)

Thanks!

Lana

Awesome menu! Great job sticking to your budget, and good luck with the move. I hope all goes well. Sorry if I did the link to my Saturday Savings wrong, new blog and first time posting!! I promise I'll catch on quickly. Anyway, LOVE your site!! It's taught me well.

Your menu looks good, easy and quick with all you have going on this week! I see it as you will not go hungry and you can concern yourself with taking care of what you need to this week and worry about meals being balanced when "normal" sets in again at your house.

Take care this week! (((Crystal)))

Wow - I am not sure I would have the stamina to plan menus on top of moving and morning sickness! Must be all that energy from being in your twenties :>)

Good for you! Way to stay the course. Happy moving.

Have a good moving week! We will sure miss you here in the Olathe area...there was something very special about feeling that "money saving mom" lived right here!

Like other commentors, I admire your desire to feed your family simply, nutritiously, and withing budget during a move WHILE PREGNANT! I am expecting my 4th blessing, I'm 14 weeks along, and I'm still struggling with the smell of food. My poor family would be stuck with take-out pizza and McDonalds! Good for you for exhibiting more discipline!

Great job sticking to the budget, especially during such a hectic time!

I posted on my blog about the $47 I saved at Walgreens this week. Every little bit helps!!!

Ugh, my Kroger is killing me. I didn't get the catalina for buying the Glade scented oil warmer and it didn't give me 2 of my esaver coupons I loaded last night. I didn't get the buy one get one free on the covergirl mascara or the swiffer dust and shine coupon. All my other e-saver coupons worked fine.

hI THERE - thanks so much for the coupons - already got them in the mail!
