imageFlorida Pastor Cleans House:  Fires SIX Staff Pastors
After being on the job just a year, Dr. Mark Cummins did the unthinkable: He fired six of his staff pastors; six pastors who were considered loyalists of the previous, long-term pastor. According to Ocala.com, the firings have caused a major rift in one of the areas largest and most prominent churches. in 2007, Cummings came on staff as the pastor, replacing 20 year veteran Rev. Ed Johnson. What was the main reason for the firings? The church is not really saying... other than an email sent to church elders on Halloween from the six staff that called the senior pastor "manipulative," "dishonest," and "untrustworthy". They followed up that email, calling for a meeting with the deacons, but were referred to the church's personnel committee. A meeting with the personnel committee lasted for nine hours, according to the Ocala newspaper... Read the full post here...

imageAre You a BAD Pastor?
Here's an interesting post over at the Faith 2.0 blog. John Alan Turner writes, "I don’t necessarily mean that I am bad at my job. That may be debated. There are things I do quite well. There are other things I do very poorly. And then there are things I do not do at all. But, in the end, I do not really seem to be what people expect or necessarily want in a pastor.

I am a bad pastor, and the only comfort I can find is that this post will be read by other bad pastors. Some of them will have the courage to admit it. Some of them will not. We are all bad pastors to varying degrees. We all think bad things and do bad things and say bad things (usually under our breath or just after we’ve closed the car door and are driving away)... imageBishop Week’s Church is Evicted from Campus
Last week I told you about how Randy White's Church Without Walls is now facing foreclosure, and how Earl Paulk has put his Atlanta mega-church building on the market... Today, news about Bishop Thomas Week's church, Global Destiny International Ministries, (also in the Atlanta area) has been kicked off it's campus just in time for weekend services. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, it was not destiny that Global Destiny would meet at its regular campus this week. They were evicted on Friday afternoon after being behind about $400,000 in rent and fees, and not making ANY payments since July. You might remember Bishop Weeks, who was arrested after allegedly attacking his former wife, evangelist Juanita Bynum, in a hotel parking lot last year... Read the full post here...

Conversations with Al
Ed Stetzer writes, "Al and I met this morning in California to make an attempt at reconciliation. Al is here, it appears, to meet with important pastors in Southern California to tell them that he's kinda' a big deal. For those of you new to the conversation, you can watch the first part first to see how the split began. As you can tell, Al is opinionated, arrogant, a know-it-all, and clearly misunderstands all things missional. Hmmm..."
