STEDFAST and UNMOVABLE

        My hubby and I just spent a week traveling to NY first to see our daughter and then to PA to Amish Country. In Amish Country I purchased a couple of books on their way of life which I am so facinated by.

        In one of the articles it told how the farmers lay-out their fields in straight rows for planting. The farmer fixes his eyes on an object that is steadfast and doesn't take his eyes off that object until the row is layed-out. He can look back and it will be as straight as if he were going by a marked line on the ground. The story was told of an Amish farmer that could not find a large object to fix his eyes upon but found what he thought to be an old tree stump at the end of the field. He fixed his eyes upon that stump and began to lay-out the row for planting. When he came to the end he saw that what he thought to be a stump was really a bunny rabbit grazing on the grass past the plowed field. He looked back and the row was as crooked as could be because the bunny had been hopping around and moving.

        When I read this story I thought of how others are watching our lives. If someone fixed their eyes upon me to help them in their christian walk with the Lord - what would their road look like as they looked back. Would I have led them in the right direction towards our Lord and Saviour? It brought to mind the verse in 1 Corinthians 15:58:

        Am I stedfast and unmoveable, grounded in the Word enough to lead someone in the straight and narrow way?

ARE WE LEADING OTHERS TO HIM BY OUR WALK AND STEDFASTNESS WITH THE LORD?
