July 2007 Meeting Details

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

We’re back on track for July 2007 with a meeting happening on July 2nd. The topic, as promised, is Location Based Services. We’ve done the topic a few times before, but lots of people were asking to do it again. So we’ve put together a different kind of lineup this time. And I think everyone will learn something interesting:

First we have Blair Swedeen, one of the MoMo regulars, who’s been doing consulting with a number of companies to help them with their location based products and services. He’s going to be giving a presentation the addresses the question “what you really need to know about developing and launching LBS Applications.” I’m sure there’s going to be a ton of fantastic info in there for the entrepreneurs in the audience. Mor Naaman from Yahoo is going to be introducing Fire Eagle. The description he sent over: “Fire Eagle is a service that keeps track of a user’s location and helps the user safely share the location data with other sites and services. Fire Eagle’s easy permission model and APIs will allow developers to rapidly write location-aware applications on mobile and desktop environments. These applications can make use of location updates from other applications and other devices, thereby alleviating the current end-to-end requirement for developing location-aware systems.” And I’m going to be bringing by the Elmo so that folks who have projects to show off can demo their wares. Ping me if you’re interested in showing off (mike at rowehl dot com).

Many thanks to TellMe, who have offered to host the event. Here are the details in standard format:
