I just purchased a new computer with Windows Media 2005 with a dual tuner. I
am new to Windows Media. I have noticed that the channel guide only goes up
to channel 158. How am I able to record any channels above channel 158 (i.e.
HBO channel 301)? I have standard cable with setup cable box. What do I
need/have to do? Thanks.
When you run through Media Center setup, you need to tell it that you have a set top box, and ensure that you choose the correct provider for your service. For example, I get two in my area. Comcast, and Comcast Digital.
Then see the following article by MVP Barb Bowman. Written for two set top boxes, its just as easily used for one.

Thanks, however I am still a little confused. My cable is also with Comcast.
I need two cable boxes to access premium channels with Media? What if I had
a HDTV with digital cable and no setup box?
In regards to the setup process with a set top cable box, should I be able
to have cable both on my computer and TV screen?

No, you only need one set top box per tuner. Premium channels, such as Starz, Showtime, etc. require the digital set top box, if you're on the Digital Cable plan. If you only have basic cable, you won't get the higher numbered channels.
When you set up the Guide data, Media Center asks for your ZIP code, and then gives you the options available for your provider. You need to choose the correct listing. If you're on basic cable, choosing the Digital cable lineup won't enable you to record/view channels that you don't normally get.
