Nokia Workshop in Helsinki
I received an email a few weeks ago from WOM World/Nokia inviting me to attend an upcoming workshop in Helsinki. All expenses paid! I did a quick search to discover it’s the real deal and quickly replied with “Hell yes!” How could I pass up an opportunity to go to Finland? Well now it’s all official. I just got my travel itinerary today. I still don’t know much about the actual event but I have been able to rustle up some clues and I’ve found tons of blog entries like the one you are reading written by my fellow invitees.
According to WOM’s invitation email:
We sometimes help Nokia run events involving participants from social media, like bloggers and forum members. The latest being a new annual workshop that hopes to involve an eclectic mix of the online community in a discussion of what the future holds for everything from mobile technology to media creation.
It’s taking place in September between the 11th and 14th, and will be the first of its kind hosted by Nokia. We’re contacting everyone from creative’s, designers, video producers to open source software bloggers and mobile tech pioneers. There will be a number of workshops that’ll see discussion with participants, and with Nokia guys, about the future of different online arenas and mobile technology. Workshops that we hope you’d like to join in with and make yourself heard.
I love making myself heard! I should have some more information soon and the WOM folks tell me they’ll be launching a website soon where the attendees can share videos and stuff from the event. I’m really looking forward to whatever this is. Unless of course this is some elaborate scheme to fly a bunch of bloggers to Finland for some secret mobile phone sex party. Oh wait…
