The song is a political statement about a fox that becomes a god.

Violet Hill is just a street thats close to Abbey Road.

Martin claims it is a anti-war song that explains his own childhood.

i love this song, i haven' a clue wht it mans, but is a song, so it isn't essential that you know it's meaning. music is life, we don't know the meaning of someparts in life, we don't know the meaning of someparts in songs. it allmakes sense really

I don't know if anyone said it, but Violet Hill is a (older?) woman Chris Martin met during a stay in the US. So the lyrics should be corrected from "...down to violet hill" to "...down to Violet Hill"

Anyway, thank you Coldplay for an awesome album!

The lyric is "And the fox became God."

Not "And the fog became God."

This song is a political statement.

He's referring to the mostly conservative

Fox News Network.

He said he wrote it about Bill O'Reilly.
