I just received a very nice call from Yahoo! Publisher Network. If you don’t know, Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN for short) is Yahoo’s version of Google Adsense. I have been using them for the last 2 months and was very surprised that someone actually called me out of the blue. I have been with Adsense for years, earned them quite a bit of money and have never had a call from them yet, hrmmm.
YPN is still in Beta and I suppose that is why I received the call. The lady on the phone asked me several questions about how I liked the service, what I didn’t like about it, as well as how much I was earning in comparison to Adsense. She also answered a few questions for me and gave me some insights into future YPN developments.
Here are some of the Pros and Cons I have experienced with YPN thus far…
Pros:
Cons:
Overall, I think YPN is fantastic. Not only do I now have the ability to choose between two contextual advertising services, but I can determine which one makes the most money on each page of my site and go with the more profitable one. YPN also just launched their RSS advertising system last Tuesday which I plan to implement on this site. The representative also said they were developing the text link ads for its network, these will be similar to the text link ads that Adsense has.
This call reminded me of a post a did a few weeks ago on the importance of making your customers feel valued. Something I definitely feel from YPN. In fact, now that I feel recognized and important to YPN I will be using them much more than I would have otherwise.
