PaperBackSwap

I just signed up for PaperBackSwap.
I had heard of it in quite a few places, but never took time to sign up.

It's easy.

I signed up, listed 15 books. That was a piece of cake.
By listing at least 10 books, I earned 2 credits which means I can get 2 books.

Here's how it works.
If someone requests one of my books, I pay to send it to them.
When they receive it, they let the website know and I earn a credit to get a free book.
(someone else pays to mail me the book I want).

I just did this this week and already someone requested one of my books.

If you try it, please use my link because I can earn a free book after you list your first 10 books.

Mr. Mohawk

I never thought I'd be a Mohawk Mom. I said, "Ask Dad."
I thought Dad would say "no", and that's not what Dad said.

He does draw the line at blue highlights though.

It's just a fun cut for summer. I told him that I'm not going to be looking at this haircut on him for the rest of his life.

Flooding

We had some flooding here last week.
Thankfully, it was nothing like further south in Wisconsin or Iowa.

Still it made quite a mess of our city.

Here are a few photos I took.

Yes! It was literally pouring into the basement.
Why is there a hole in the wall?
I have no idea.

We don't need the pool anymore.

Our front street. I've never seen this street flood and it did twice last week.

Debris floating in the street

This is 1/2 way into our front yard. The brown stuff is mulch from all sorts of yards.

We're drying out. We had to throw away a few things from the basement but it wasn't as bad as other areas so we are thankful.

Layout change

I found a site that shares free blogger templates. I've always been too afraid to mess with my template. I'm also too cheap to hire someone to do a template for me. I love all the pretty blogs, but I feel like this is just a tiny hobby and I can't justify paying to blog.

Free is another story though! So today, I decided to try it. This was a pretty easy change, but I lost all my sidebar things. I could have saved them but I was too lazy! See, I must not care too much about blogging.

Anyway, what do you think? I think this cute little bird is sweet. Now that I've taken the plunge I just may change the blog more often. I've had the green blogger template the whole time I had this blog. It looks odd to me to see something else here.

This blog has a lot of fun creative ideas and she is the blog where I found the free templates. Check it out and maybe snag a free template for your blog.

Comparison

He was 3 when I first started the lilac photos. Look how little he was!!!
I was going to put all of them on this post, but I forgot that my old computer died and I don't have them all on this computer. I am too lazy to dig through the photo CD's and upload them so you just get these two.

The annual Lilac Shot

Every spring for the past several years, I take PJ to the neighbor's yard and snap his picture next to her lilac tree. Here are this years photos. Here is last year's shot.

I have a lilac tree too, but hers are the deep dark purple lilacs. I happen to like those better.

Cats

Today PJ said, "Mom don't you wish you were a cat? You could lay around and take naps whenever you wanted to."

I said, "That sounds good to me."

He said, "Well except for the getting your tail slammed in the door part. That has to hurt."

Johnny Depp ain't worth the sunburn

I got a horrible sunburn the other day.
The hubby and I and the kiddo took the day off on Wednesday to go see if we could see any of the filming downtown.

We had fun but couldn't see much.

We got about a block away from the scene of the bank robbery. We could see old cars lining the streets.
We could also see the extras. At one point a group of women in 30's dresses, heels, and awesome hairstyles walked by.

We heard the tommy guns firing several times.

One neat thing was local school kids dressed as 1930's newspaper sellers. They walked around selling the daily paper which was printed like a 1930's paper. They added fun to the atmosphere.

Johnny was chauffeured right past us and waved out the back window. PJ didn't get to see him because some rude teenagers shoved past us. He was not happy.

We stood across from his trailer for awhile--along with a few thousand other people. He didn't come out and we were done waiting so we left.

I got a horrible sunburn. I wasn't expecting that in April. I'm not really into Hollywood and aside from Pirates of the Carribean I have no clue who Johnny Depp is. I don't keep up with it all.

We went because it isn't an everyday thing around here. Also I didn't want my son to be sitting around someday saying we wouldn't take him to see the only movie ever filmed in Oshkosh.

So while it was neat and everything, Johnny wasn't worth my nasty sunburn.

He cracks me up

My husband came home from work last night and said completely seriously,

"If Jimmy cracked corn and we don't care, why did someone write a song about it?"

I burst out laughing. I told him I guess I never thought about that.
