What do you do for a living?
My standard answer, after too many years of being asked it, is "whatever it takes." I think, by browsing this site, you'll get an idea of how I make a living. I work at a variety of odd-jobs. I'm self-employed. I sell things. I make things. I write. I pay bills. Ta da! It's a living.

Do you do commissioned art? Portraits?
Yes, I have done many commissioned pieces and portraits, although I seem to do mostly animal portraits. I've done other subject matter, from lighthouses to match a business logo to a collage for a soldier returning from Iraq. I am always willing to work with you to see if I am the artist for your project. However, I would advise you to look through the art in my online galleries to see if my style is truly what you are looking for. I am not a photo-realist or realist artist in a strict sense of the word.

I went to school with you / I think I know you.
You are truly blessed, then, but chances are good I may have forgotten your name. It's not personal.

What are your political / religious leanings?
I'm not sure how this is relevant, but I am a Christian. I regularly attend an Assembly of God church.

Do you donate art?
In the past, I donated a lot of art and other products to various charities. I have slacked off from that in the past year because I found I was becoming a favorite of a certain group of charities, getting many, many requests but little else as far as new customers or sales. Perhaps it sounds tacky, but I decided I could not keep giving to the same charities if I saw no new customers or word-of-mouth results from the donations. It became a case of shooting myself in the foot; people told me they would wait to buy my art at the next silent auction because it was for a good cause. Pardon me, but I think my own bank account is a good cause, too, and so I pulled back on the donating. Small artists should never be taken advantage of, no matter the cause, and I felt it was coming to that.
If you are interested in having me donate to your cause, you may contact me. I will not promise, however, that I will donate. It depends on the charity, how busy I am and a few other factors. I have a special interest in Christian charities with a good track record for helping people, or other charities that are focused on helping humans in need.

Can I use your art or writing in my own publication? On my website?
Probably not. You can ask me anyway, but probably not. Please review my copyright information page before using any of the original copyrighted (i.e. all) content that I have created for my website. I have worked out agreements for various companies regarding the licensing of my images, but you'll need to contact me so we can work out the details on a case by case basis. But for sure, do not (and should know better if you've been on the internet for any length of time) link directly to my graphics on your webpage! You only suck up my bandwidth and it really ticks me off.

Do you ever teach any classes?
Yes. If you look at my resume, you can see I've taught art and writing to all age groups, from kindergarteners all the way up to adults. If you're interested in having me teach a class, check out this page for more information. I also receive compensation for mileage, materials and, if the class is not near where I live, food and lodging.
