Welcome
The Joshua Group is an at-risk youth mentoring organization deeply involved in our work of rescuing the future of street kids in the Allison Hill neighborhood of the City of Harrisburg.
We got our start in 1998, using as our headquarters for our outreach, the old St. Francis School building/gym.
As word spread about our program, we needed our own space. With the help of some generous supporters, in 2003 we acquired one of the blighted houses in the neighborhood, rehabbed it and moved in.
Our new location on Market Street gave a greater presence in the neighborhood, allowing us to establish a variety of new programs to serve the increased demands for our mentoring and outreach services.
Here in our website, you'll read about those programs and services and most important, share in some of the personal stories of those we are able to reach. Some of those stories and more can be read our newsletter.
Many of you already know about our work and we thank you for your support in this journey. If you are learning about the Joshua Group for the first time, welcome!
— Kirk Hallett, Founder and Director
PS: People ask, "Why the name Joshua?" We feel it represents well the message of hope so needed and, we hope, discovered by those who come to our door.
