Orkut made some changes to its interface yesterday and I must say, it not very usable. Let’s just notice the three buttons namely ‘preview’, ‘formatting tips’ and ’submit’ on the scrapbook page. For the heavy keyboard users like me who hardly use the mouse, we have no way to post the scrap without using the mouse. One cannot just use a tab to focus on the button and press enter. Also on the homepage, the link to the scrapbook showing the number scraps has been moved to a new line. It was better the earlier way. Lot of white space has creeped in. We dont need that much of whitespace there. Many other small problems like this which I am lazy to write about right now. I’ll add more of those to this post later.

Update: August 03, 2006 See the Orkut’s Messages area. You cannot select all messages using the checkbox given just left of the ‘From’ column head. Also if you manually select multiple messages and select an operation like ‘Delete selected message(s)’, the operation gets performed on only one message and not on selected messages.

Just search for any of the emails. On the search results page, select a few mails by checking against their checkbox. Now hit the ‘Spam’ button. What you see as a result is an empty blank page. You have no option but to either type another URL in the address bar or hit the browser’s back button. If you go back to Inbox, the mails will still be there and would not have been marked as spam/ moved to the spam folder.

Not having the spam button work at such a prominent place is bad design. Yahoo please fix it!!!
