The current edition of the The Economist magazine has an interesting article entitled Managing complexity that explores software development. The tag line of the article suggests that most software projects fail to meet their goals and ask the question if this can be fixed by giving developer better tools. Interesting article - I'm re-reading it and will post some comments about the article tomorrow.
