Hamas Fundraisers Don't Add Up

DALLAS – Internal records detailing fund raising hauls by the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF) indicate that the group took in hundreds of thousands of dollars more than it reported on tax forms, an FBI agent testified Wednesday.
Agent Robert Miranda's testimony marked at least the second example in which tens of thousands of dollars in HLF funds go unaccounted for.

Hamas Leaders Dominate HLF Speakers List

DALLAS - Senior members of Hamas appeared at fundraising events sponsored by the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development and a related charity called the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), an FBI agent testified Tuesday.
Agent Robert Miranda took the witness stand Tuesday afternoon in the Hamas terror-financing trial of five former HLF officials. In addition to bringing speakers from overseas, Miranda said, HLF also arranged "conference calls" with speakers abroad to audiences in the United States. These calls included solicitations for contributions to HLF.

Supreme Court Rejects Al-Arian Appeal

Sami Al-Arian could be back in a federal courtroom within weeks to face criminal contempt charges after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to take up his appeal that claimed federal prosecutors have violated a 2006 plea agreement.

HLF Defense: Volume, Volume, Volume

DALLAS – Defense attorneys spent Friday trying to chip away at government evidence against five former officials at the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF). They have tried to show the evidence, while seeming to be substantial, is a fraction of the hundreds of boxes seized in various search warrants and thousands of intercepted telephone calls.
Thus far, the defense questions have not challenged the accuracy of the evidence presented – transcripts and tapes showing the defendants praising Hamas and, in the case of some, participating in a 1993 meeting of Hamas members and supporters aimed at derailing the U.S.-negotiated Oslo Peace Accords.
