this guy's in love...and fighting it...HARD
get a divorce...
indeed...l
but, Mark, pay back the public money first!...h
all this crap about hurting his wife, kids and friends is bs. he wasn't thinking about them when he was snacking up with this gal. i hope his wife leaves him and sue him for every penny he go. , oh that right she has all the money anyway.
Puerile comment. Not everything in life is about money.
What also struck me about the emails from him to her, he is really quite stunted in his emotional development when it comes to adult relationships. Which also tells me, his wife for the pants in the family more times than not. Sounds like he was w.h.o.o.p.
I thought some of his emails were poetic -- surprising for a Republican politician. In a few places they even reminded me of Pablo Neruda. Of course apparently having no understanding of romantic love, you make it into a male power display about wearing the pants. Who is stunted in adult relationships?
What always gets me, and I know it takes two to tango (pardon the pun), but men who stray if they would give even a tenth of that emotion they are needing to their spouse, I'm sure any wife would welcome it.
Maybe! It depends on the woman. But some women are as oblivious to romantic love as men are.
"A smart Senate and House leader would immediately bring up for a vote the repeal of DOMA while the Republicans are reeling from their second (adultery) eruption in a week.
Let the Republicans start talking about the protection of traditional marriage. Just let them. If anything, the DOMA repeal FORCES the entire country to keep talking about the ongoing GOP sex scandals."

What I find interesting is the level of sanctimony people are directing at Sanford, the same sanctimony they objected to him and his public policies.
I'm liberal, especially on social issues, and disagree with Sanford heartily on his policies, but the judgment displayed by people mocking and flaying this guy for a very human failing is pretty hypocritical and unforgiving. As hypocritical as Sanford.
Trust me, most folks understand about affairs and that's not the point. Sanford just compiled lie's upon lie's to coverup what could have been no more than a guy cheating on his spouse. Then add on to that he taking to task all others because they may have merely just "lusted in their hearts", well, it's sort of hard to cut the guy slack.
I'm sorry, but I don't want to read the emails themselves; it's ghoulish. Let's just stipulate that he wrote some embarrassingly awful love notes to a woman he shouldn't have been messing around with. It happens all the time.
I don't want to contribute to further humiliating Sanford's poor wife and kids or drive the guy to suicide; I just want him to resign -- and for him and the entire GOP to quit being so damned arrogant about the whole "family values" thing. That would be enough.
actually the emails are sweet...re
I saw her pic. Not what I expected. His wife is
just as attractive as she is. But they've been
together 20 years and this one is new and
exciting. jeez
Romantic love doesn't necessarily have anything to do with some commodified notion of beauty. Typical. No wonder our culture is so sterile.
Holy smokin joe. How did they get their hands
on these emails anyway? Wow. And how did
he meet her in the first place? Match.com?
At what point are we to believe his lies?
- I went hiking
- I wanted to clear my head after a hard fought legislative battle
- I did not call my wife or children on father's day because I am a man of solitude
- I drove down the coast in Argentina (the coast road is only 1/2 hour trip)
- I cried in Argentina for 5 days
- I had an affair with an adult woman and here are my emails to prove it.
The last one is extremely perplexing. Why on earth would he distribute emails to the media?
It makes no sense.
Google Argentina, and you will find that prostitution is legal there, and child prostitution is a very big problem.
More lies are required when hiding more seriously shameful activity, and attempts to prove something less shameful happened "sex with a woman....t
I hope the media finds the real truth and exposes this fraud and hypocrit.
Gov. Sandford do what is right by your family and step down. As long as you are still in office you leave them open for every last dirty little thing you have done. What did your wife and sons ever do to you for you to kick them like this? Be a MAN a REAL "family values" man and take care of your family.
I love how Sanford can't spell to save his life. These aren't even typos. He said "world wind" instead of "whirlwind!" I guess I can see why he turned down stimulus money that would go toward funding education.

Isn't she married too? Or maybe, was married, when all of this supposedly transpired with Mr. Sadfool?
Okay, as much as the snicker factor regarding this is on high alert and the cringe inducing prose during a solitary taxi ride will make jumping into a cab seem like a whole new experience, you do have to have a degree of sympathy for the man. It is very clear he is madly in love (to put it mildly) and he was simply giving his paramour a window into his innermost feelings that we unfortunately get to gawk at as well. (How could he not know that e-mails are pretty much public domain?)
He carried on an eight year emotional affair. He's proven himself to be quite erratic when dealing with matters of the heart which makes him seem a tad emotionally unstable. His days of moral superiority and indignation over the transgressions of others is over. It's very clear that if he was a democrat the repubs would be screaming for a resignation. Even if he stays in office, it's safe to say that his higher political aspirations are kaput. I think that as tempting as it is to kick him while he's down it's not necessary. If he ever even thinks about getting on his high moral horse again, google, the internet and his steamy e-mails will be there to knock him right down.
