Heart for the Lost

Anythingbutlukewarm here - posting on Andy's blog about a powerful JOHN PIPER video. There is nothing more sickening than seeing the truth of the Gospel distorted and used to decieve people in desperate need of a Savior. John Piper's hauntingly emotional voice sends a pointed message to the wolves that the harm they are doing by distorting who God is and the sufficiency of Him is far more damaging than any circumstance this life brings (hunger, death, disease, etc.) As Christians, we are pitifully complacent to not correcting these false teachings and speaking out to call a heretic a heretic.

It's much easier to say what people want to hear and avoid any controversy or discussion about TRUTH. It's the cowardly, greedy, keep the truth to myself mindset that many in Utah subscribe to, under the guise of "unity" and "friendship". What about when the day comes when you reach destination eternity? I sadly wonder what those perishing will experience when they realize how un-united they really were from the truth about Christ. I remember the moment I got saved thinking, "How could I have been decieved for so long by so many people? What I had been believing was all wrong! Which was worse- the self-serving false religious leaders I followed or the lazy so-called Christians that never called me on it? And why did I not look objectively and earnestly for truth when I knew in my gut that what I had been fed as "truth" had a lot of holes in it. Justification upon justification and excuse upon excuse just layered my former religion taller and taller with nothing more than man-made ideas and concepts found nowhere in the Bible. There were just remnants of a similar terminology, with meanings that were distorted and misapplied.

I shudder to think of what becomes of the false teachers, prophets and those who claim the name of "Christian" who take part of the false Gospel scam. God knows it ALL and if you have any bit of an inkling you are following LIES then you are accountable to finding out TRUTH. Look to the Bible, not "Bible sequel books". As someone who has been there - keep searching for brutally honest answers. YOUR ETERNITY, like mine- DEPENDS ON IT.

Rob Bell was just recently quoted in Relevant Magazine totally twisting scripture. He even applied an Old Testament verse to the War in Iraq. Really it is not funny, this guy went to seminary, and although now that seminary is no more Orthodox nor Biblical than a Public University especially considering the comments of its current President... Mouw. Well Tom in the Box did a great article on Squiremeneutics which is very funny, I want a name for Bell's theology...... Twisteneutics? Decievereneutics? Presuppositaleneutics? Please go ahead and post your own thoughts and new words.

Squirmeneutics

1. the science of misinterpretation, esp. of the Scriptures, to such a degree that it causes listeners with any common sense to squirm.
2. misinterpretation of the Scriptures so absurd that it causes one to question whether or not it could possibly be for real.

It's getting more and more difficult to write satire these days. The reason for this is that the world of Christendom at both ends is getting so extreme that I just can't seem to top reality anymore. A week rarely passes where I don't at least get several emails from you, the faithful Boxers, passing along a story, or a video that is beyond anything I could think up. When I write satire I take an absurdity and generally follow it out to its logical extreme. This in turn, hopefully, highlights the root absurdity thus causing the reader to see it more clearly.

And then there's stuff like this video that I've posted below. It needs no exaggeration because the absurd end has been logically reached already. Yes, this is a first for us at TBNN. Normally I just don't link to someone else's stuff, but this is too good (or too bad) to pass up. When I first saw this video I about lost it. I thought for sure this was a joke. Some seminary students, obviously opposed to extreme fundamentalism, post these little You Tube videos caricaturing super-hyper-indy-fundy preachers. But I checked it out, and it's no joke. This guy is for real.

Warning: This video is PG. It uses some old King James language that is generally considered crude today. I believe it's fine for adults, but you may not want your kiddos around when you watch this.

With that being said. Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present...squirmeneutics.

Here is an excellent podcast with Bill Mckeever, Matt Slick and a self proclaimed Arminian Mormon (ironic). They talk about issues like who defines Christianity and the Trinity. This is really worth a listen it is fantastic! Take the time and run this there are a few more follow up shows that will be on the link below. This is a true way of using dialogue in truth, and holding someone accountable to what they believe rather than letting them get away with doctrinal manipulation. Thanks Matt and Bill for doing this!!

Ok this is only a joke and not necessarily theologically accurate but my friend Edwin sent it to me and I thought I would share.

How many Calvinists does it take to change a light bulb?
None. God has predestined when the lights will be on.

How many Arminians?
Only one, but first the bulb must want to be changed.

How many Charismatics?
One - since his or her hands are in the air anyway.

How many Baptists?
CHANGE?? But we have NEVER done it that way before!

How many Pentecostals?
Ten. One to change the bulb and nine to pray against the spirit of darkness…

How many TV evangelists?
One. But for the message of light to continue, send in your donation…

How many Fundamentalists?
ONLY ONE because any more would be compromise and ecumenical… (standards of light would slip.)

How many Charismatics?
None - unless the Lord leads.

How many Dispensationalists?
Two - one to change the bulb and one to keep the promises to the old bulb.

How many Promise Keepers?
None - unless Coach McCartney says it's manly to do so.

How many Calvinists?
Every Calvinist knows only God can change a light bulb.

How many Arminians?
Since the bulb has free will - it must make the decision.

How many Episcopalians?
None, they assume darkness is the nature of the bulb and it would be
Harmful and disrespectful to violate the personality of the bulb.

How many Quakers?
Someone will, but there is no one officially called to be a bulb changer.

How many Charismatics?
None - unless the Spirit witnesses to their spirit that it should be done.

How many Baptists?
Two, one to change the bulb, the other to preach on tithing in order to pay for the new bulb.

How many Premillennialists?
While knowing where the light bulbs are, they are persuaded to wait for

Two, one to change the bulb, the other to remind others not to fear the
