City Overhauls Crane Testing
In an announcement yesterday, the city handed over its license testing responsibilities for smaller crane operators to the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators. Council Divided on Term Limits
In a closed-door meeting, the City Council seemed split over a proposal to extend term limits, according to several members who attended. Some say the proposal, which would extend the city's term limit from two to three, should not be decided in the council chamber, but by a referendum. City Hall reports Council Speaker Christine Quinn is expected to support an extension. That revision met further opposition when billionaire Ronald Lauder, who had expressed support for the plan, said he would not support the proposal unless it was a one-time only extension. A bill to revise term limits is scheduled for introduction at the City Council today. For more, see City Hall News.
