Bushveld Glow (Vertorama)
Location: Waterberg Game Reserve, Limpopo province, South Africa.
Description: So what’s so special about this photograph (I hear you all ask)? Are we supposed to find a lion or a giraffe or something hidden in this bush? And what are those two black pointy things in the center of the photograph? Is that supposed to be the main subject here!?
Well, I suppose that the main subject here is probably the tree... but what I was actually trying to capture was the pastel-pinky quality that the light had when the sun was a few minutes away from dipping below the horizon.
While Daniel and Andre were setting up on the viewing platforms and aiming their cameras at the sun, I was exploring the nearby bushes, trying to find the best composition amongst all the grass and trees.
Oh, and those black pointy things are a sort of plant… you’ll notice that there are plenty of them around… too many to clone out!! :)

Dust Buggies
Location: Waterberg Game Reserve.
Description: There are no prizes for guessing who was riding first, second and third at this stage of our quad-bike game-drive and photo-shoot... Daniel (left) was about three minutes behind me, and Andre (right) came in about thirty seconds after him (a bit too close, judging by the look on his face :)).
I've been on quite a few game-viewing-outings in my life already... on foot, in vehicles and even on horseback. But in my opinion, there is absolutely no better way to explore the African bush than on a quad-bike! These 260cc bikes have high and low-range (for the really steep bits)... and believe me, they can get you places where you'd find it hard to walk!!
The only problem though... is DUST!!! Riding along dirt roads in the dry season, with a couple of other guys tends to be more of a solitary experience than a social one. Get too close to the guy in front of you, and you're eating his dust! On the other hand, if you get too far behind everyone else, there's no way that they're going to hear your screams for help when you suddenly find yourself being charged by a rhino!!!
Heh heh... nothing that a hot shower won't wash off... it certainly was a lot of fun!!

Investment Potential (Vertorama)
Location: Stone Town, Zanzibar.
Description: It is a city of brilliant sunshine and purple shadows… of dark entries and latticed windows… of mysterious stairways, and massive doors in grey walls which conceal one does not know what… of sun-streaked courtyards and glimpses of green gardens… of barred windows and ruined walls on which peacocks preen. It is a town of rich merchants and busy streets… of thronged market-places and clustered mansions. Over all there is the din of barter, of shouts from the harbour… the glamour of the sun, the magic of the sea and the rich fragrance of Eastern spices. This is Zanzibar!
This is also the last photo that I'll be posting from my Zanzibar series.
