Adult Christian Education

Sunday Mornings  at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30 AM

First Assembly provides a variety of opportunities to study God's Word and connect with others through Christian Education classes.  Each class is interactive and designed around a specific topic of interest.  Topic themes change frequently to coincide with living a Christian life in a modern world.  Group names, leaders, and room locations are listed below:

Name: Young Adults
Location: Room 204
Teacher: Pastor Randy Jumper

This class discusses the relevancy of applying God's Word to today's world from the college campus to first job experiences.  It further supports those who are attending school away from home.

Name: Creative Living
Room: Reality Room
Teachers: Pastor David & Cheryl Richards and
Randy & Janet Granderson 

This group is designed for adults of all ages (especially those new to Adult Christian Education at First Assembly) who are interested in connecting with other class members while they learn to live in Christian love.  Their purpose is taken from Galatians 6:1-10.

Topics are focused around Senior Adult issues as presented in Radiant Life Curriculum which provides maximum opportunity for care and support.

Name: Marriage Builders
Location: Room 107
Teacher: Michael & Laura Holland

Primarily for couples who have been married five years or less.  Emphasis is placed on building the foundation and framework for marriage relationships that will last a lifetime. It is a time for connecting with other couples with similar interests and goals.

Name: Sanctuary
Location: Sanctuary
Teacher:  Phyllis Felton

Adults of all ages and backgrounds attend the Sanctuary class where an in-depth Bible study is taught each week.  Lesson outlines are available for further study during the week.

Name:  Searchers
Location:  Room 212
Teacher:  Stanley Hall

Focuses on walking in the Spirit.  The Bible is the text book, and weekly outlines are provided for further study.  Fellowship opportunities at the beginning of each session provide for an enjoyable way to connect with others.

Name: Real Life
Room: 214
Teachers: Pastor David Maynard, Janet Jones and Tim Sturdivant

Real Life focuses on applying Biblical truths to everyday situations.  We are all about growing in maturity in Christ. Everyone of us walk daily in this world.  We are touched by situations, circumstances, and REAL LIFE issues. The purpose of this class is to help you connect with others, grow in your relationship with Christ, and apply Biblical truths to everyday situations.

Name: Challenger
Location: Room 112 (Fellowship Hall)
Teacher: Mattie Ruth Tipton

Challengers are made up of adults of all ages.  Topics come from Radiant Life Curriculum and are tailored to the needs of the participants.  Fellowship opportunities include class dinners and an annual picnic.  Ministry service and outreach are trademarks of this group.

Teacher: Larry Buttram

Contemporary adults range in age from 30 and above, married and single.  Topics relate to navigating contemporary  issues facing today's Christian.  There are numerous opportunities to get connected through golf outings, float trips, parties, Kansas City Chiefs games,  and barbecues including Larry's famous Dyna Ribs.

Discovery members range from age 26-60, married and single.  There is a strong emphasis on family, marriage relationships, and connecting through social activities.

Name:  First Families
Location: Room 218
Teacher: Donna Hill

Married couples in their 20's and 30's make up the members of First Families.  The mission of this class is to equip couples to build homes that stand for Christ.  The support network emphasizes caring for each other in life's  joys and struggles.

Name: Applied Life
Location: Room 113
Teachers: Liz Bevis and Tami Harlan

Designed for new Christians desiring to grow in Biblical and doctrinal knowledge this group is open to all ages, married and single.  Numerous activities are available for connecting and establishing new friendships.
