Facebook allows you to post profiles, photos, photo albums, notes, News Feed stories, and external content. An example of external content would be that interesting article, photo, or video that just got posted on your favorite Chuck Norris website.
After you click on a Share button, just select the "Post to Profile" tab. Selecting this option will post the content and any comments you have made to the "Posted Items" section of your profile. This content will be visible to anyone who views your profile.
There are three main ways to post external content to your profile:
You can copy and paste a link from an external site into the box at the top of the Posted Items page and click "Share." Once the Share Box pops up, select "Post to Profile" and click "Post." You can look for "Share on Facebook" links on partner websites. Clicking on those links will generate a Share Box in a pop up window, where you can select "Post to Profile" and click "Share". You can install the Share Bookmarklet to your browser. Then, whenever you are on a site and find something you'd like to share, click on the bookmarklet, which will generate a Share Box.

To control who can see your Posted Items, follow these steps:
Click Applications on the left navigation column. Click "Edit Settings" next to Posted Items. Adjust the setting called "Profile Box." Click "Save Changes."
Please note that if you select "No one," you will not be able to see the Posted Items section on your own profile.Share links help facilitate the flow of information on Facebook. If you click on a Share link next to any piece of content, you will have the option to send that content in a message or post that content to your profile. If you send the content in a message, the recipients will see it in their Inbox and be able to reply to you. If you post it on your profile, it will display in your Posted Items section.
