Facebook created Pages when we noticed that people were trying to connect with brands and famous artists in ways that didn't quite work on Facebook. We created Pages to offer you a way to accurately represent on Facebook what’s important to you in real life. Facebook Pages help you discover new artists, businesses, and brands as well as connect with those you already love. Not only can you connect with your favorite artists and businesses, but now you also can show your friends what you care about and recommend by adding Pages to your personal profile.
Pages for Fans
Becoming a Fan
If you see a Page that interests you – either on a friend’s profile or in a News Feed story – you can click on the link to that particular Page to learn more. Once on the Page, you can click the "Become a Fan" button in the upper right hand corner. You can also search all available Pages on the site by visiting our Pages Directory. You can browse to easily see your Pages, your friends' Pages, and view all Pages on the site.
Any Page with content that is age sensitive will not be available to those who do not meet that age requirement.
In order to remove a Page from your profile, you must remove yourself as a fan of that Page. In order to do so, please click on the Page you’d like to remove and then on the "Remove me from Fans" link found at the bottom of the Page.
Creation
Only the official representative of an artist, business, or brand may create a Facebook Page. Additionally, the authorized representatives may choose to permit their colleagues or employees to help manage their Page. Each Page Admin will have the ability to build and update their pages from their respective user accounts. The initial Page creator reserves the right to add or remove other Page Admins at his or her discretion.
If you have a group that fits into one of the categories offered for Pages and you are the official representative of that artist, business, or brand, we can help you convert your group into a Page. Please fill out your request here by providing us with the URL (web address) to your current group and the URL to the Page you have created. We will transfer over the group members and any discussion board posts, reviews, posted items, and wall posts to your new Page. Photos and videos cannot be transfered at this time.
If you believe this message is an error and you can confirm that you are or officially represent this entity, please contact using this form. Facebook Pages may only be used to represent real entities. Fake Pages will be reported and disabled. If you create a fake Page or violate our Terms in any way, your Facebook account may be disabled.
Profile and Page Content
The Pages that you become a fan of will show up in your profile in the "I am a Fan of..." box. The "I am a Fan of..." box is divided up by Page categories so you can easily distinguish between the different Pages that you have added. You cannot be a fan of a Page without it displaying in the box on your profile. In addition, you cannot hide this box from your profile.
When you become a fan of the Page, a story will be published in your Mini Feed and may be published in your friends’ News Feeds. Any action that you take on a Page will abide by the privacy settings you currently have set for News Feed and Mini-Feed. You can adjust these settings at any time by visiting the News Feed and Mini-Feed privacy page.
You do not need to add the applications on a Page to simply view a Page’s content. If you wish to engage with the Page’s applications, you will be prompted to choose whether or not you accept the Terms of Service of the given application. Like all Facebook applications, these cannot violate the privacy settings you have set and they are meant to provide you with a better opportunity to share information with your friends.
The Page administrators will decide which applications they wish to include on their Page. They can add content to their Page as well as allow their fans to add content to any or all of the applications on their Page.
Privacy
Pages cannot see the profiles of their fans. They can only see the profile photo and name of each of their fans. In addition, Pages do not receive a News Feed with information about what their fans are up to. Pages can communicate with their fans through updates in your Inbox, but they never gain access to your personal information.
Any messages a Page sends you will appear in the separate "Updates" tab of your Inbox. You can choose to stop receiving updates from a Page at any time by clicking on the "Opt Out" link found underneath each Update. Or, you can click on the "Edit Updates Settings" link found in the bottom, right corner of the "Updates" tab in your Inbox.
Abuse
To report a Page for content that violates our Terms of Use, please click on the "Report this Page" link found in the bottom, left corner of every Page. We do not allow Pages to impersonate any entities and will remove any that attempt to do so.
Pages for Administrators
Applications
Facebook Pages come pre-installed with custom functionality for each Page category. These are the applications and information fields Facebook believes will be most relevant to the category you have selected when creating your Page. For instance, a music Page comes pre-installed with a music player, video player, discography, reviews, tour dates, and a discussion board.
We encourage Page Admins to find and add the applications to their Page that will make their Page most useful and successful. To view the available applications for Pages in the Product Directory, please click on "Edit Page" and then on "Browse More" at the bottom of the Page next to "More Applications." From here, you'll be search for a specific application or browse different categories. Once you find an application you'd like to add to your Page, simply click on the application name and then on the "Add Application" button.
It is easy to remove any application you no longer want to appear on your Facebook Page. You can either click on the "X" in the top-right corner of the application’s box in your Facebook Page. Or, on the "Edit Page" for your Facebook Page, you can click the "X" in the upper right corner of an application in the Applications section of that page.
If you want to re-add an application that you removed, go to the Application Directory and search for the name of the application. Click through to the application page, and select "Add to Page" in the upper right part of that page and then select the Page you’d like to add the application to from the drop down menu next to "Add this application to."
Third party developers will also build an array of applications as they compete for Pages to install them. We expect that these tools will range from playing media to merchandising to ticketing. It is up to the developers who create the applications whether they create an application that can only be added only to personal accounts, or only added to Pages, or that can be added to both. If you cannot find an application to do something that you want to appear on your Facebook Page, or if you have unique functionality that you’d like to add to your Facebook Page, then you should consider building your own application. You can build applications that work just on your Facebook Page, or which works on your Page and can be added by regular users to their own profiles. While building applications is relatively simple, it does require an engineer to help you develop, deploy and maintain the application. For some tips on how to get started building applications, see Building Applications on the Facebook Platform.
Back Office was created to help small businesses easily share information. Speaking with other individuals working towards similar goals is one of the best ways to learn how to run a successful business. A community of support and insider information will be the additional boost your company needs to help it reach and exceed your expectations.
The Back Office application fosters an environment full of creativity and support. By learning best practices from other business owners in your field, you can prepare your business for a number of challenges, such as managing growth, allocating resources, and retaining satisfied clients. With all of this information, you’ll be well prepared for your business’ next step. In addition, when you add Visa’s Back Office application you’ll receive an email with a coupon code that you can activate to receive advertising credits that can be redeemed for Facebook Ads through Facebook’s online advertising system.
Yes, the application can be added to either a user profile or Page. You can add the application on each Page that you administer. You will only receive a coupon code the first time that you add the application to either your profile or a Page you administer.
Users maintaining business accounts may add the application on any of their Pages. At this time, business accounts will only be able to view content in the application. Interacting with the application and posting content within the application requires that the user upgrade his or her business account to a user profile.
Fans and Favorite Pages
Pages will receive News Feed distribution for various actions fans take on the Pages. Users will see these stories and can click through to the Page and can then become of fan of the Page. Alternatively, if a user sees a Page he likes on a friend’s profile, he can visit the Page by clicking on the Page’s profile photo. He can also search for the Page by name, either within Facebook or from a global search portal. On the Page, he can click on the "Become a Fan" button in the upper right hand corner.
There is currently no invite feature for Pages that allows you to directly invite your friends to become fans of your Page. However, you may use the Share button on the bottom right hand corner of your Page to share the Page with your friends. Your friends can then easily become fans of your Page.
Pages will be publicly viewable, so people searching for a particular artist or company on the World Wide Web will find the Page’s Facebook presence and be able to view that Page’s photo and basic information. In order to view a Page in its entirety, become a fan of a Page, and engage with a Page, the individual must join Facebook.
No, we cannot give out any personal information about our users. Additionally, you may not use users’ contact or personal info from the site without their permission; this is strictly prohibited by our Terms of Use and will result in the disabling of your account.
At this time, there is no way to remove or ban a user from being a fan of your Page. However, if a fan is abusive, you can block them from posting content on your Page. To do so, please click on the "Block" link found underneath the posted content. Additionally, you can report the user or the user’s postings on your Page to us by using the appropriate report links. We will review the reported material and remove anything that violates our Terms of Use. If warranted, we will either warn or disable the user.
The "Favorite Pages" section will display all the Pages that Page administrators publically support. Only Page administrators will be able to add other Pages to their "Favorite Pages" section. All users can see the "Favorites Page" sections.
If you are an admin of a Page, you can add a Page to your "Favorite Pages" section. To add a Page to your "Favorite Pages" section, click on "Add a Page to Fans" found in the top, right corner underneath the "Become a Fan" link. That Page will then appear in your "Favorite Pages" section. Please note that the "Add a Page to Fans" link will only be visible if you are an admin of a Page.
The ability to become a fan of another Page allows Page administrators to clearly affiliate with other brands, businesses, and public figures. By becoming a fan of another Page, your Page will publically support that Page.
To remove a Page from your "Favorite Pages" section, you will first need to view the Page you’d like to remove from this section. Then, click on the "Remove from my Page’s Favorites" link found at the bottom of the Page.
Insights
Organic promotion refers to the News Feed stories automatically generated from the actions taken by users on your Facebook Page. You can increase the distribution of these stories to your fans' network of friends with Social Ads.
Facebook Insights measures user exposure, actions, and behavior relating to your Social Ads and Facebook Page. By understanding activity and performance, fans and ad respondents, and trends and comparisons, you are better equipped to improve your business on Facebook and elsewhere. Insights is a free service for all Facebook Pages and Social Ads.
Daily data is updated 12 hours after the full day. However, we reserve the right to change the update frequency at our discretion.
Facebook Pages enable artists, businesses and brands to communicate through the viral distribution mechanism that leverages Facebook users’ authentic social connections and rich communication channels, including News Feed, Mini-Feed, and Inbox. Because Facebook’s user profiles are authentic and their connections with other users are real, the social influence of these stories is tremendously powerful.
Users want to know what their friends are listening to and try out their recommendations. Whether it’s playing a track, watching a video, writing on the wall, writing a review, or attending an event, a fan’s interaction with a Page can generate News Feed stories to his friends. Since users can immediately click through to that Page and interact with it, engaging Pages will benefit from a virtuous cycle of user attention. Additionally, Pages will be publicly viewable, so Facebook users searching for a particular artist or company on the World Wide Web will find a presence for that group in an environment they know and trust.

Powerful reporting and insight tools are provided free to Page Admins. On a cumulative and week-over-week basis, these granular reports will measure reach (e.g., impressions, clicks), viral impact (e.g., fan adds), responder insights (e.g., gender and age), and engagement (e.g., video plays and wall posts) of visitors to the Page. One advantage of using the applications designed by Facebook is the ability to receive these free, regular, detailed updates on the growth of the page.

Managing
Artists, business owners, and brand managers, as well as their colleagues they permit to help administer their Pages, will be able to build and update their Pages from their respective user accounts. Facebook’s turnkey page-builder makes creating a Page as easy as creating a personal account. Just describe yourself and upload your content.
Absolutely. Pages are incredibly flexible, allowing Page Admins to install 3rd party platform applications, uninstall other applications, and of course install their own in-house lightweight applications. Facebook’s easy drag-and-drop user-interface lets Page Admins customize the arrangement of whatever they choose to include on their page. Page Admins will also have the choice to control what sections of the Page users can add content to.
As a Page Admin you will not be visible to your Page’s fans. Any communication you have with your fans will be under the name of your Page.
There is no limit to the number of Pages you can manage. You can manage as many Pages as you have been given the authority to manage. The Page Admin who initially creates the Page reserves the right to add or remove other Page Admins at their discretion.
To appoint other users as Page Admins, please select the ‘Edit Admins’ option when you are viewing the Page you currently administer. Simply choose the names of any users on your friends list that you would like to add as Admins. These users will then be able to help you manage the Page. Every Admin can manage the Page from their own Facebook account using the ‘Page Manager’ application. If the individual you wish to invite to admin your Page is not presently a member of Facebook, simply type their email address in the "Reqest Admins via Email". They can then register for the site and will be able to accept the admin request as soon as they join Facebook.
At this time, it’s not possible to edit a Page category. If you would like to change the category, you will need to delete your current Page and create another one under the correct category.
The information fields that are available for you to write in are determined by the Page category that you selected when you first set up the Page. Unfortunately we are not currently able to approve requests for vanity URLs (web addresses). The only Pages that presently have vanity URLs are bands and businesses that partnered with us for the initial launch of this new product. We hope to make these URLs available for everyone to have on their individual Page(s) in the future. When this feature is available, we will provide instructions on how to obtain a vanity URL on this help page.
In order to upload music to your Page, we need you to submit a valid form of identification that identifies you, the admin of the Page. By submitting a valid form of identification you are confirming that you either own the copyright to the content you will be uploading or that you are authorized by the copyright owner to upload that copyrighted content to your Page. Please note that you can black out any sensitive information on your identification if you wish, other than your name and picture. We currently only accept photo passports, school IDs, and drivers licenses. If you do not wish to upload a form of identification, you will not be able to upload music. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Promotion
The Pages with the freshest, most engaging content stand to gain the most from this new product—since each track played, video viewed, review written and event attended can generate News Feed stories that propagate through the social graph. Facebook will accelerate the rate at which unknown entities become popular, and it will also fortify the position of those who are already recognized highly among users. Whether large or small, all artists, businesses, and brands have the potential for exponential distribution through the graph if they can engage users.
Facebook Pages and the natural distribution through News Feed are free to Page Admins. Page Admins will have an opportunity to incrementally increase distribution as well with paid advertising. Paid promotion are the Social Ads created specifically to promote traffic to your Facebook Page. To learn more about Social Ads and promote your Page, please go here. News Feed is a feature that tells Facebook users about their friends’ recent activities on the site. The News Feed is the first thing users see on their home page when they log in to their accounts. News Feed drives the viral spread of information on Facebook through networks of friends. It can cause a snowball effect – as something becomes more popular, more people hear about their friends doing it through News Feed, and then do it themselves. This in turn causes even more people to hear about it through News Feed, and so on. This can result in literally hundreds of thousands of people hearing about something in just a matter of days. Harnessing the power of News Feed is crucial to accruing a high number of supporters and spreading your message to the most people on Facebook.
The "Find Us on Facebook" badge provides your business a way to promote your Page off of our website, and help direct your customers to your presence on Facebook. This Badge can be applied in-store or on location, on the web, and in print collateral. You can learn how to create a badge for your Page from the 'Promotion Guidelines' link. This can be found under the communications section when you are editing your Page.
Page Admins are welcome to build merchandising, ticketing, and downloading applications, or to use those provided by 3rd party developers. On the canvas pages of these applications, they may choose to run paid 3rd party advertising pursuant to the Platform Terms of Service. The off-network website of any artist, business, or brand may be linked prominently on any Page, so traffic can be directed to an external monetizing site.

He can also search for the Page by name, either within Facebook or from a global search portal. On the Page, he clicks the "Become a Fan" button in the upper right hand corner.
Updates
Page Admins can update their fans about new Page content, promotions, upcoming events, and more. Pages can send messages to either their entire fan base or target their update to fans in a specific demographic. The messages Pages send their fans will appear in the "Updates" tab of a user’s Inbox.
Page Admins can choose whether they wish to send an update to their entire fan base or to target their update to fans in a specific demographic. The "Target this update" option will allow Page Admins to target their update by location, sex, and age. Only fans in the target group selected will receive the update from the Page.

Business accounts are designed for individuals who only want to use the site to administer Pages and their ad campaigns. For this reason, business accounts do not have the same functionality as personal accounts. Business accounts have limited access to information on the site. An individual with a business account can view all the Pages and Social Ads that they have created, however they will not be able to view the profiles of users on the site or other content on the site that does not live on the Pages they administer. In addition, business accounts cannot be found in search and cannot send or receive friend requests.
To get started, you will need to first create a Facebook Social Ad or Page. To start this process, please click here. Once you’ve entered in the required information, you will be taken to the "Facebook Login" page and asked if you have a Facebook account. If you do not currently have a Facebook account, then at this point, please select "I do not have a Facebook account." You will then need to enter your email address and date of birth. Please be aware that managing multiple accounts is a serious violation of Facebook’s Terms of Use. If we determine that an individual has more than one account, we reserve the right to terminate all of their accounts.
Maintaining multiple accounts, regardless of the purpose, is a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Use. If you already have a personal account, then we cannot allow you to create business accounts for any reason. You can manage all the Pages and Socials Ads that you create on your personal account.
Please keep in mind that the fans of any of the Pages you administer will not have visibility or access to your personal account or profile. Any actions that you take as a Page administrator on your Page will show the Page’s name as the actor and not your personal name.
If you wish to manage ads for multiple clients, you will need to do so from one account. We suggest you restrict all ads for each client to separate campaigns. Unfortunately it is not currently possible to designate separate credit cards for each campaign or to have multiple administrators for the same ad account.

If you click on the "Create Your Profile" button, you will be asked to provide additional information to allow you to transform your business account into a personal account. You will be required to enter your full name, a security question, and an answer to your security question. Once this final registration step is completed, these changes cannot be reverted. You will then permanently have a personal account on the site.
If you convert your business account into a personal account, you will still be able to manage all the Pages and Socials Ads you’ve created by clicking the "Ads and Pages" link in the left hand navigation menu entitled "Applications." The fans of your Pages will not have visibility or access to your personal profile. Any actions that you take as a Page administrator on your Page will show the Page’s name as the actor and not your personal name. However, if you wish to restrict your privacy so that other Facebook members cannot find you in search or add you as a friend, you can do so by clicking on "privacy" at the top any Facebook page.

Managing
Each business account or personal account on the site should only be used by one individual. This individual should be the owner of the email address used as the login email address for the account.
A Page can have multiple administrators. Each Page administrator will need to have their own business account or personal account. Every admin can manage the Page from their own Facebook account using the "Page Manager" application that will appear in the left hand column of the Applications section once they become an admin for a Page. Every admin has equal access to and the same abilities as the other admins for a Page, however the original creator of the Page may never be removed by other Page admins.

If you have a business account, you will be able to view and edit all of your Pages and ads created with that account. You can take any action on the Pages you administer, including editing your Page information or adding Page content such as photos, videos, and events. You can also view all the statistics related to both your Pages and your ads. You will not, however, be able to view the profile information of any of the fans of your Pages or add any other applications to your account. Your account will not be visible in search and other users on the site will not be able to find you and add you as a friend.
