Just when you think Nokia doesn't have any more tricks up its sleeve -- wham! the WiMAX-equipped N830 internet tablet gets all up in your section (maybe). According to a sweet,
sweet photo which appeared in Best Buy's February Mobile Buyer's Guide, the Finnish giant is preparing to unleash a new version of its popular
N810 tablet, and it seems like this could be the rumored
WiMAX device that we've heard whispers about. Of course, this could also just be a new paint job and refreshed number -- though something in our heart tells us that ain't the case. Word on the street is that we'll know what's up come CTIA. In the meantime, feel free to zoom, zoom, and zoom some more on this picture, and check out the full page of the brochure after the break.

Looks alright. Not a big fan of futureware.

YES! This is the device I've been waiting for! Hi-speed Internet access from anywhere plus enough computer to service almost any electronic need in an ultra-mobile way.
And it runs linux (and doom, might I add ;)).
I want.
}:^)~
YARR!

As long as "from anywhere" means "Baltimore, DC, Chicago, and Clearwire's territory (in six months from now)", sure.
I feel like service pricing is the real obstacle here - I just don't want to spend $40 per device to get an Internet connection. If they ramp it down to $10-$15 (like my phone), that's basically acceptable.

"plus enough computer to service almost any electronic need". we got an 810 at work for free to play with, for web work etc. I dunno. it was pretty slow at running even the most basic flash. I have freinds that rave on and on about these things, but I just don't see it. maybe the 830 will feel a little faster.

i'm looking at the Best Buy ad and it appears as though its already been corrected to say "N810"

That same picture is in this month's Best Buy magazine, but they called it the N810.

This is going to be my next device,
Is there a release date?

Whoa, can't wait. Been hooked since the 770. Upgraded to the N800 just before the 810 was released. Been eying that for the keyboard & GPS. Lessee what they add for the N830... even a built-in GSM module would be fine by me.
I mostly use mine at home or within Wifi range. I use it for ssh to various servers (that's why I want the keyboard), VNC, reading the news in bed, etc. On the road, I pair it with my edge-capable 6131 for maemo mapper, email and browsing.
While within wifi range, the Internet Calling/SIP Client registers to my asterisk box.
PLEASE give us the 830. Faster processor, more memory, built-in GSM or WiMax... please!

I wonder if this will drive the N810's price down... I've been waiting to get one ever since it came out.
Reggie @ Feb 19th 2008 2:08PM
It's labeled as N810. Check out the zoomed image:

Hmm well this could be good if N810 price drops =)

If engadget had a NO APPLE UNTIL BLOODY 99 DAYS AFTER IT'S BEEN POSTED ELSEWHERE policy, I would show up at Ryan Block's house and be his butler.

So is there another hardware revision of the 810 then? Wonder what they tweaked/changed/added/omitted. I've been wanting to get an 810 too. I get constipated because I hate getting out of the computer chair to go take a shit. I know my ass health is important so I need a portable internet device.
