Reuters joins with blog syndication service

Posted by John Burke on November 15, 2006 at 11:38 AM
The world of traditional and new media are becoming ever intertwined. Having already partnered with major papers in the United States such as the San Francisco Chronicle and the Washington Post, blog syndicator BlogBurst has received a $7 million investment from the global news agency Reuters.

BlogBurst compiles the best in the blogosphere for distribution to external publications. Since the announcement of its service in February 2006, the number of blogs it scans has exploded from 600 to 2,800.

Newspapers quickly caught on and first began publishing blog content in early May. Now, BlogBurst will have the additional strength of thousands of Reuters clients the world over:

Good for Reuters: Our general view is that news is news. We don't take the view there is only one view you can trust and that we have it" - Chris Ahearn, president of Reuters Media.

Good for the blogosphere: "BlogBurst gives me the chance to be read by people who typically don't read blogs" - Kate Hopkins, author of the popular food and travel blog Accidental Hedonist.

this story is far from dead, and soon people will be able to form their own opinion by seeing the evidence themselves.
as for Raphael's comment: would that the Palestinians felt that it didn't matter who killed the lad.

What is going to do the AFP ?
What about non-english blogs?
Is BlogBurst going to extend his service to other languages?
